The below story is purely fictional, like Peter Pan.
So I'm with friend who has a 95 M3, TMS chip, intake, 3.5 MAF, 540 TB and UUC catback. Our other friend has a stock Evo8 and his friend has Jetta with all the bolt-ons running 20psi. It's Thanksgiving evening and we roll out to our favorite stretch of road and decide to go from 10mph roll. The road is four lanes wide, no traffic, roughly a 1/4 mile long, slightly uphill and passes under a few bridges. So I'm with the M in the far left lane, the Jetta next to us with no passenger and neither does the Evo who's on the far right. Three honks and we're off, the Jetta had a bit of a head start and through 1st we're all pretty much dead even. Hit 2nd and the Jetta is now at my door with the Evo slightly ahead. Third gear comes around and the Jetta is now at our rear bumper and the Evo is starting to lose ground, now at my door. By the time we hit 4th the Evo is probably half a car behind and the Jetta is back about 1 to maybe 2 car lengths. Topping out 4th the Evo had lost another car length or two and the Jetta was back about a bus length. We bust a U-turn at the light right as a blue Porsche 911 Carrera 4 goes by slowly, the driver busted his neck looking at us. We quickly roll up to the driver's side of the Carrera. And give him a nice tap of the throttle to let him know we're interested. He hits it out of nowhere around 40mph and we immediately follow suit, about 1/2 a carlength behind. Nail 3rd and we're back to his rear bumper. Wind out 3rd to 7k and I'm giving the driver a thumbs up next to him. Touch 4th and pull another 1/2 car length and we shut it down. The light ahead turns red and we're sitting at the light, the Porsche owner says it's a 1999 model with a B&B exhaust and was surprised how we rolled by him. We agree to run again from this stop light to about 80. My friend to launchs around 3k and feathers it out. The 911 is now almost half a car length ahead by the time we hit 2nd. Winding out 2nd we're pulling back slowly, almost to his rear bumper, nail 3rd and start creeping back. 65, 70, almost there! 75, so close but not enough. I guess he hit 80 first cause he let off and we cruised on by. I think if we had gone to 100 we would have been 1/2 car ahead. The driver of the Porsche gives a waive and heads off. We turn around and head back home. Not sure if the Porsche was auto or manual :dunno
The 95 M is now waiting on a header and midpipe install which will be followed by a set of 3.38 or 3.46 gears. I must say it's a damn strong car and has impressed me numerous times.
