OK, I don't know how good of a kill this so you guys be the judge.

So I rolled up to a stop light, and a guy signaled me to roll down my window and he made a compliment on the LSB M3. I was like thanks!!! :D

The line up was:

E46 M3 (Me)
Saleen Mustang (Him)
Audi TT (The other person)

Now when the light turned green we hit and the TT got smoked from the begining. I pulled like 2 or 3 cars on the Mustang and then held it there until about 100 MPH.

Stopped at the next light chatted a little more, apparently his car was an automatic with a tranny chip, and was supercharged.

Too bad his girl was with him.. Kinda embarassing..

It was all in good fun and the guy was pretty cool.

Now should the M3 be able to take a Automatic S/C V8?

It was S/C'd for sure you could hear the blower screaming during the run.

slap a supercharger on a basically stock auto GT and you've got a fast car, but it's nothing to call home about

Most saleens aren't charged, cobras on the other hand are. Nice kill but I do agree with what was said above if it was manual and he knew how to drive you wouldn't of got that kill. But non-the-less :buttrock

The only Saleens to watch out for are the s/c'd ones...

Most of the above is correct. Most Saleens came non-supercharged and are not much faster if any than normal GT's. The performance upgrades on the SN95 chassis included a mild suspension and as far as power they received FMS 3.55 gears, FMS pulleys and a Borla catback. So +10hp or so, next to nothing when you factor in the heavier wheels, body kit and other weight like 18x9/10 wheels.

The SC'd ones can be tricky because they have different versions, the S281, S281-E and the S351. Big difference in power between the them.

Yea..i bet you raced a mustang GT auto with a "saleen" body kit(ALOT of people slap on the rear bumpers and side skirts and call it a saleen) (if been past many GTs that had COBRA bumpers on them)....so thats about right up to 100mph....e46 m3s pull on GTs by about 4 carlengths to 100mph...the difference between a 13.5 1/4 and a 14.0 1/4 mile.

I dont think that factory supercharged saleens ie: the s281e or def not the s351 came in auto....they would have to be 6-speed using most likely the T56.

If it was a reg. S281 Saleen you prob still might have taken him like you did.

But the S281E would have beaten you fairly easily esp after 30mph (375hp)

and the S351 IS FAST!!!! rare but FAST!!!! the S351 has like 425-450hp i believe and is almost 50k brand new back then. This car is faster than my 04 Cobra was stock. S351 runs mid 12s all day long easy.

Why would someone own, or even make a automatic Saleen, with a S/C. What a waste.

I believe the S351 had 500hp. I drove one once. It idled at about 2grand and when it was idling the whole car shook. It was a beast!

I never said American cars suck. In fact I used to own a Mustang and I am still quite fond of them.

The fact is that many of the Saleen Mustangs on the road (if they are even authentic) are barely anything more than a GT with a body kit... hence why many Mustang enthusiasts consider them to be grossly overpriced. The only power modifications on the base S281 are pullies and an exhaust (info taken directly from Saleen's website). These modifications do not drastically change the straight-line performance of the car... and the added weight of the body kit may even negate some of these gains.

iv taken my friends saleen s281 when it was stock from 40-100, and pulled 6-7 car lengths on him, and recently he got the extreme supercharger setup and i pulled 2 car lengths on him in the same 40-100 race.
