Lotus behind me at the light. I launch pretty hard and pull a car or so, the lotus remains about that distance behind me. We run into som traffic and let off.

I'm behind slightly behind/besides the lotus going about 15 mph when we punch it again. The road has 3 lanes going our way but is turning (s shaped). The lotus is barely pulling, let off around 90 or so. At this point I'm guessing the other driver was holding back a bit since I was able to stay with him.I'm following him for a few lights until we hit a red light.

At the light, side by side,I get a decent launch, but amlost rightway the lotus slingshots ahead of me easily once he hooks up, (probably slipped his clutch this around to build boost right of the bat) it is really apparent that I'm way out of my legue. I let of since I defeat is obvious and I watch the lotus for a few seconds and see his brake lights - a cop is a few cars ahead of him. Appears he didn't see what was going on, we both turn onto side streets and goes our separate ways.

Me: e36 3.2 crank pulley , otherwise stock
1992 lotus. Slightly bigger turbo and alittle more boost

Im assuming that it was an Esprit. However an older friend of mine has a slightly modified 1995 Esprit S4s and it would lay waste to my car....as well as most esprits anyway.

if it was a V8 it would have been twice as bad, the V8's are supercar territory

Well, they really arent that much faster than the old ones. I know that my friends S4s with simply an engine chip now has 360lbs of tq. Thats more than a V8. Also the fact that the older Esprits were a bit lighter means that his is now faster than a V8. We have ridden in both. Actually if you ever see Lotus' ads for the 25 anniversary Esprit, the yellow car in the pic is the one I rode in. Some guy bought it down in houston.
