I have a 1992 735 iL build in 06/92. I am constantly getting the "brake light circuit" message although my tail and brake lights are working. After doing my research I singeled out the LKM module and found that the mustard relay is the cause - now I compared pictures I found of the fuse boxes with mine and I don't have the same. I attached a picture of my fuse box. I checked the one relay that has the mustard color but it is not it .. :nono - any suggestions?

The mustard relay in my 88 735i is the second from the right in your pic the (sorry im color blind) brown one? All I did on mine was take it out open it up and fix the broken solder joints with a little heat and some new solder. hope that helps.

I take it you mean the bottom row one from the right, I resoldered it but still the same effect. I will stop by BMW tomorrow and just have them point to me which one it is, that is if the service advisor is any good ... :devillook

The statement "I singled out the LKM module and found that the mustard relay is the cause" is VERY confusing :confused ...especially since the 1992 e32 doesn't have a "mustard relay". The function of the mustard relay (parking light relay) was incorporated into the LKM module for 1992-1994 e32 models. The relay (in that position...1st row, 3rd from the right) is the AC compressor clutch relay, in your car.

If you are getting a Brake Lt Circuit warning...and your brake lights appear to work...then the problem is probably the brake switch which is located above the brake pedal. There should be info about it in the archives...and I believe Don Gales website has a write up and pics. Never mind..here's a link to Don write-up: http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_25.htm

I suggest you buy a Bentley Repair Manual, that helps a lot and shows the different set-ups of the fuse boxes in the engine room and under the rear seat.
Also have a look at my website, many links and online wiring diagrams.
