Ok, since my last post of losing to a new M5. I think I am going to redeem myself. Somewhat here.

As I am coming home from work I see a red light ahead and the wise thing to do here is slow down to a stop. The Lincoln LS didn't like the fact that I am slowing. So he rides my ass and quickly turns to the open left lane. I'm thinking what a dummy we're approaching a red light no point in passing like that. Sitting their waiting I see passenger and driver (teens). Light turn green I floor it and up by a quarter of a car. BAM!..kicked it into 2nd pulled another half car length while he's still pulling then the shift to 3rd and I'm.........GONE.

After the long night. I am finally going back home. I approach the busy intersection. Waiting for the light like always. Booyah....I see a STI waiting with me as well. We're both waiting to and reving our motors but he didn't seem like he wanted to look over and acknowledge it. So light turns green and he blasts off the line into the turn I follow suit and didn't not launch. So i chased the guy down due to some traffic he slowed down. So I downshifted to 2nd and keeping my revs at 3.5. We were neck and neck he looked over and nodded so we both gunned it. Neck and neck finishing 2nd and then BAM! another shift to 3rd and still neck and neck. BAM!...to 4th gear and he kept on going and the bimmer felt like it ran out of power so I shut her down.

This was my first time racing one of these STI's. Although I shut the bimmer down before seeing how many car lengths he was going to pull on me. I notice that from a roll that my car can stay neck and neck and going into 4th gear was when it ran out of juice. The STI just kept going. Time to change some gearing in my car. Sorry for long post. ;)

i think its suppose to be backwards where the sti smokes u in the beginning, but up at 65+ u should catch him. either way nice job!! i've been wanting to race one from a roll.

not with an E36 M3.....an STi will walk on e36s all day long.

Its the e46s that can catch up and pass by at over 50mph.

I had a 95 M3 AA turbo stage 1.5 that was making 305rwhp and I was barely pulling on an STi that only had an aftermarket bypass valve. It was almost brand new with like 3k miles and it was me, the STi, and a B5 S4. Needless to say me and the STi killed the S4 but it was pretty close with me just very slowly pulling away in 2nd/3rd gear by MAYBE a 1/2 a car length.

I have yet to have a problem pulling on an STI (on highway), However the pulling on the e46 has only been done once. From a light the sti AWD will help his launch.

Nice Run.... it should have been even, both cars (the M3 and the STI run 13.3)

M3's have pulled into the 12's, and are generally a little quicker than STI's, especially up top.

Am I the only one that has a slight chuckle every time I read a post about an E36 M3 racing, and beating (or being equal to) a vastly faster car? I mean, the STi runs low 13s, and would walk all over a non FI E36 M3 every time. Period.

The E36 M3 is a wonderful car, but it's got whopping 240 hp (in the US form, anyway).

Unless we're referring to an E46 M3, that's a different story.

Top gear run M3 vs STi will NOT be a walk every time "period" You better be in the right gear all the time.
