So I'm finally supposed to pick my car up from Hot Wheels tomorrow (great turnaround time I must say) and John calls me a hour ago and tells me that they were pulling it out to clean it up and my ignition locked in the on position. He said they can't turn the key either way but can pull it out and the car keeps running. They had to disconnect the battery and push it back inside. Does anyone know if this is a common problem? I'm all the way up in South Carolina so not like I can go run over and check it out. He's ordered me a new ignition which obviously isn't something they can pick up off the shelf since it has to be coded.

I'm just so pissed about everything still and that I'm having to deal with this because some bastard effed my car. Oh and by the way the detective in athens isn't doing shit and still doesn't even know who drives the car or who he visits in the complex...after I did every f-ing thing for him. Son of a bitch I'm pissed.

Weird! I hope they take good care of you on that... sounds like their porter or whoever was dicking around with it.

Good luck.

It has become common on e36 car for the lock cylinders to fail. We have done 4 of them in the past month. Also seems to be happening to Z3.

I'll let you in on a little secret: the ACC-PD couldn't find their own asses with a map and a two-day head start.
Don't even get me started on the DA's office.

I would say take everything that you have about the guy, and get an attorney. Or give it to your insurance and let them go after him. Either way, I would give up on the popo.

I've also heard of this issue happening to E36's. Someone on BFC did post about it

He probably graduated from UGA.....that is the problem right there.

Yeah, that(wahtever:rolleyes ) or he is like many detectives. The one that handled my case when my cc info was stolen and someone ran up $900 in one day. I found out where the person lived before he did. When I gave him the info nothing EVER HAPPENED.:confused What's wrong with people.

Happened on my old e36..it is a common problem and can be fixed for around150-200 bux...but you have to go to dealer with title and other proof of ownership and have them order you a new lock cylinder.

I say it's time to go back to doing your own investigating. Plus, I think if you notified your insurance company of all the info you have gathered yourself, and how much the detective hasn't done, they may put in a call to the detective's boss to find out what is or is not going on in their office.

I'm sure your insurance company would like to be able to recoup their expenses by going after whoever did the damage.
