i was wondering if anyone has replaced there battery with a bmw replacement battery? Would you suggest to replace it with an original battery or a good aftermarket one?

BMW is not a battery maker, just buy a fitting and good aftermarket one. Many of the battery makers have a online selection of the right battery size based on your specific car.

I forget the brand, and if I had ready access to my car I would check for you...But I bought what is essentially the BMW OEM battery, but from the original manufacturer, and the cost what almost half of what the Stealer wanted for a BMW branded battery. Do a search on the topic on this forum and you will find the answer.

1. Duralast 49 DL (sold by AutoZone) is the best bang for the buck at approx $69 and it comes with a vent kit attached to the side of the battery
2. Interstate MTP-93 (www.interstatebatteries.com to find a local reseller) approx $80-$120 and it comes with a vent kit attached to the battery
3. Douglas 95R (sold by Batteries Plus) is the OEM mfg of the BMW battery & is approx $80-$130 (use the adapter from your original battery to hook up to the vent hose)

I'm sure this info is in the archives if you would have typed "replacement battery" in the search's dialog box. :D

ahhhhh crap...after all that ...I just saw that you're in Canada! :mad

I'm not sure what is available there...but if you go aftermarket, try to stay with the same battery class size...that's the important thing to do.

go here: http://www.stingerelectronics.com/web/prods/batteries_power.asp

Look at the battery on the right. That is what I bought from my loal audio shop and it is able to withstand 2500 w of power without a capacitor. If you want a battery that lasts get a stinger.
