They said it couldn't be done, even after i showed him the fax order...
jblack 08-23-2002, 03:36 PM Unbelieveable! It took my dealer one lousy phone call! I would love to hear how it wasn't possible when you had a window sticker in hand with it listed! I'd be pissed!
Kevlar 08-23-2002, 03:42 PM I was... they said they couldn't order it like that.
I didn't want to argue anymore... cause I could tell my efforts were in vain... When I get the phone call from BMW NA about the ordering experience, I will be sure to give them my $0.02
Bart C 08-23-2002, 08:14 PM I ordered it with my M3, if ya like I can scan the window sticker and email it to you. I should pick the M3 up about a week from today.
jblack 08-23-2002, 08:20 PM I faxed him my window sticker with the sunshade on it....I had -0- problem.
Kevlar 08-25-2002, 01:47 PM I got tired of going back and forth with it... I just said screw it and I'll get the car tinted.
themadhatter 08-26-2002, 02:33 PM you know that you're going to try the same thing as me:
we're going to try and retrofit the darn thing cause we want all the little gadgets that we can cram into that car. :D

Yup... I need things to take up that little space on the bottom of the console next to the sport button.
Since I don't have heated seats, I'm going to need to come up with some buttons. I'm going to try and see if I can get an EJECT button to put in place of the passenger heated seat button ... that should be good for some laughs.
I think the buttons on the bottom of the console from (L to R)
driver's heated seat
sport
HK Audio
rear sunshade
FlatTire Monitor
DSC
pasenger heated seat.
I need something to fill up those blank spaces...
rayster 08-26-2002, 03:23 PM Have you guys seen any E46 M3's (2001-2002) with the sunshade? I haven't seen any M3's with it yet, hence that one lonely blank spot on the console!
Or is that only a 2003 option? It's not even listed on the website... is it?
themadhatter 08-27-2002, 10:52 PM well, if it can't be done, that's where my police siren and strobes will be.
marwan 08-29-2002, 01:59 PM I have the rear auto-sunshade on my M3, but then again i have a euro M3!
///MDriver 08-29-2002, 10:33 PM When ordering my 330, i thought i was getting a "full row" as i like to call it. I was surprised when i did not get a full row. I have
Heated Left
DSC
TOP up
TOP down
Heated right
I have seen an M3 with a full row, but it did not have the rear shade, it had
Heated left
DSC
Sport
Top Up
Top Down
Heated Right, i think thats all the spaces.
I wish i could have put a sunshade on my old 330, it sure used to get hot with that black leather:b_hot
jblack 09-02-2002, 03:04 PM I have a US M3 with "a full row". If someone would like pictures, I can do it.

PB_M3 02-16-2004, 02:57 PM I know that this is an old thread, but JBLACK would you please post a copy of your window sticker with the rear sunshade on it and also post the ordering code if you can recall it. I am in the process of ordering one and my sales guy said that he knew nothing of it.
thank you-
All your salesman has to do is configure your car as a "priority 1" (customer sold) in the computer system and he should get a few more options available to select from.....
M3:
F2AT-- M Texture Alcantara/Black Leather (coupe only)
N5LS-- Laguna Seca Blue Nappa Leather
N5OV-- Kiwi Nappa Leather
0760-- High Gloss Shadowline Trim
0774-- Eucalyptus Malt Wood Trim
0415-- Rear Sunshade
edit: this list is a little over one year old YMMV
jblack 02-16-2004, 07:23 PM Wow...this is an old one.....
If you need the sticker, drop me an e-mail at johnblack@comcast.net and I'll send it to ya, but try bren's route first...
And damn - I wish I could of had the Alcantara instead of the cloth.....
Have you seen the alcantra?

The door panels are just a little too much for me.

 :biglaughb
wow.. im speechless... my initial thought was for some reason it looks like a ford focus there with that.. wow.. heh
the inner cloth in the seats are just *barely* endurable, but the door panels as you say just completely scare me away..
if i ever saw that on the street and the owner was near it i would probably slap him or something.. (no offense if you like that? but if you do, can you explain how??? heh)
John H 02-16-2004, 11:57 PM It's a very "European" look. I used to have an E36 with the gray Alcantara that had a similar (but different) "M-color" pattern and weave. I liked it a lot, and quite frankly liked the fact that most people didn't like it :).
I wish they had a gray Alcantara interior for the E46. Black seats get sooo hot in the summer.
Actually, the E36 Alcantara was also better in that the bolsters were Alcantara (plain gray) and the seat inserts were cloth, with the weave.
I have seen that Alcantara on a Velvet Blue (BMW Individual)... it looked pretty good. I think it would also look good on an Individual-ordered Technoviolet. The carbon black looks good too.

PB_M3 02-17-2004, 12:40 PM I am actually on the process of ordering a new car. I am ordering a 330CI with the performance package for european delivery and was trying to tell me sales rep that it was possible to get the rear sunshade. He hardly would believe me. Thanks for the info, perhaps this will help persuade him.
dhruvp 02-17-2004, 02:03 PM i was able to get the automatic rear sunshade for my car! then again, its become an official option now
PB_M3 02-21-2004, 03:16 PM Option code 415 I believe.
My sales man said that it would not be a problem.
