As I am looking at the engine which side is considered Bank 1 and bank 2 is I have a bad oxygen sensor and it says it is in bank 2.

Also as a side note does any one have the part # for the Magnaflow cats that have been used on the E38?

Thanks in advance

bank 1 always refers to the head with cylinder #1. so it would be the left side when sitting in the car. bank 2 would be on the passenger side.

When I'm stumped...I usually go to the search link first because most times the question has been asked before. :D

I also find the links from past discussions useful and helpful...and sometimes I have to think outside the box. For example, I'm not sure which bank is which either...but thinking outside the box...I would assume the online parts database would reveal such info...so I looked up the profile gaskets...and sure enough it gives info for cyl 1-4(#2 in diagram) & cyl 5-8 (#6 in diagram).

It reveals that bank 1 is on the passenger side and bank 2 is on the driver's side if your car is left hand drive (like in North America).
