So im on my way to coyote grill after trading in my xbox, just cruising down crown valley toward pch at moderate speeds when i notice a black blinged out rage rover with miss teen america blasting kelly clarkson. Of course i think nothing of it besides how annoying the music was. I then turn up my music and continue to cruise, well im goin a fair bit faster then the rest of traffic and pass a g35, the guy looked old so i thought nothing of it. I come to a light lined up with the rover, we roll out and she punches it. eh i was over racing an suv so i shift out of first into second. at this point were on a downhill turn when i notice the g35 fly by me. well i bring my car up to speed and before you know it were both doin 80 on this turn, and whos up head pushing the limits? Miss teen america and her range rover, man you shoulda seen this chick trying to speed around this corner it was the most terrifying/hillarious thing ever. so im riding the g35s ass who is backin off because of the range rover, and when we finaly get to the bottom of crown valley were it meets pch me and the g have the green light to go right with no one in front of us. We fly onto pch, im in seond gear goin about 35mph (its a pretty tight right hand turn onto pch from crown valley) the G is ahead of me by about two cl. I finish second and slam it into third, finish third and shift to fourth, look in my review mirror and see that im about 3 cls infront of the G. we both back down because of traffic and he stays behind me until i reached my destination..

Now i think it was an auto because i took him pretty easy from a second gear roll. I couldnt hear him however because i was blasting mars volta and didnt have a chance to turn it down from the time i turned it up to when the fun began. I have never ran a G35 and have always thought all the g35/350z stories to be shady at best. but eh what are you goin to do.

my car is stock except for a drop in k&N filter which doesnt do anything(came with the car).

good run!!! it's all about the driver and how much he really gets into his car on the street. it is a drivers race between the 350z's, G35's, and the E36 M3. i have beaten a G35 from highway speeds, but it took me a bit to pull on him. good run!!!

hmmm actually the g35 and the 350z are as fast as the e36 m3 (350z is prolly a little faster than the g and m)

If you call "about 0.5 second slower in a quarter mile" as fast as the e36 M3, then yeah I guess the G35 is as fast as an e36 M3.

By the same token, the new Miata is "as fast as the G35".

you're nuts dude. maybe you're talking about an automatic g35 sedan when you say .5 slower...they run 14.7. e36 m3's run low 14's on average and so do 350z's/g35 coupe. even the g35 sedan's w/manuals run 14.3-14.4.

before you try and start another flame war think about what you are saying. this topic has been discussed to death and there is no need for you to carry it on further.

do some research before you throw out BS.

G35 coupe runs about 14.3~14.4. E36 M3 runs 13.8~13.9.

I'm not unfamiliar with the G35 coupe either. I almost bought one today. Yes, today. I borrowed one from the dealer and drove it for the last 3 days.

a stock e36 m3 def. doesn't run 13.8-13.9. the fastest stock 350z/g35 in a magazine is 13.7. on average e36 m3's are low 14's and so are 350z's.

a lot of thes cars listed at the above sirte are lightly modded. there is no way that a stock m3 is significantly faseter than a 350z, as your stated 1/4 times imply.

my bad, you said g35. they're are slightly slower than the 350z, but the above information still applies in terms of reinforcing the idea that the m3 is not significantly faster.

I'm personally not very surprised by the outcome, based on my own limited experience... Last thurs on my way to work, a G35 sedan raced me down storrow drive through some nice dips, sweepers, and straights. It wasn't a slaughter by any means, but during the span of our run from 60-110mph, I did put a couple of car lengths before he shut down. Fwiw, the Z has an intake, exhaust, and conforti software (from what i can tell, believed to be done by the prev owner.)

dragtimes.com is a bad reference. Anyone can go to that site and "post B.S. times". There's a Z4 that runs high 12's, low 13's, with same basic N/A mods. I don't believe that number either.

Show me one credible car magazine that has the G35 run 13.7. Show me one that even has it run 14.0 flat. And I'll believe you.

Sounds like a good time. Good double kill action.

I'm voting for G35 sedan with AWD and automagic tranny.

No flames from me. Quite frankly, these are the results I would expect from a well driven M3.

The thing that I find amazing is the number of 325 jockeys that get the same results you did...

Ok for you that live in atlanta i ran at commerce once and ran a 14.1 in my G35 (with a cai) and commerce is the worst track in the world. If i find my slip I'll show you, and i have never seen a e36 M3 run .5 faster than a G35 but u keep thinking that (if both drivers are good and everything goes well, shifts, launch traction etc.)

and also between the e36 m3, 350z, and G35 this is all that happens :argue
it will never be settled which car is better. on nissan sites the 350z is best on bimmer sites the m3 is best, and on infiniti the G35 is best. In all honesty i believe that the 350z is the best of all three cars

Gotta love it when an 8 year old (in my case) 4 door sedan can take a new G35 or 350Z that has an extra 60 ponies. When I got my M, I was also looking at the R32 but the fact that VW made them AWD = heavy=slow, for such a small car, made me go for the M.
Besides, the 4-door M3 looks stealthier, does not scream boy-racer.

Boats should not be going around corners that fast.
