What kind of power can i look at getting out of an M10 with out making a stroker( if they make a stroker kit for it). I mean i want to do like DVS with titanium retainers, port/polish (portmatch too), and a 292 or somthing? what i am looking at. This is not a Tii it is just a plain Jane 02. It has a 4speed on the floor. Will a single webber be ok or do i need to look at getting 2 sidedrafts or a single side draft. Enlighten me if you dont mind. al@bmp 11-18-2005, 09:26 PM yeah i have seen some stuff from them and actually bought motor mounts from them for my e30.........would you trust their reground Cams? Some of the items that your thinking about will make the car a little uncomfortable to drive around town. The side drafts are nice but do move the power band up much higher in the RPM band. The RPM below 3500 does not have much power with side drafts. Idle is typically a little rough, and adjusting the webers is a little tricky. Upper RPM after 4500 to 7000 is great! This is more of a track set up. Reground cams are O.K. as long as you don't try to grind then to radically. Since you are reprofiling the lobe you are required to removing material from the base circle. This will require the use of lash caps or oveersize eccentrics. Keeping the down draft weber you could build a nice comfortable street car with about 165 hp pretty easy. Al Chbimmer 11-22-2005, 11:06 AM thanks for the info..........Thats what i need to know! dose BMP cary alot of good O2 parts? I would rather buy from you guys if you are going to spend time to talk with me. al@bmp 11-22-2005, 11:22 AM thanks for the info..........Thats what i need to know! dose BMP cary alot of good O2 parts? I would rather buy from you guys if you are going to spend time to talk with me. We have been involved in BMW parts and service since 1972. We have recently separated the classic vehicles from our standard catalog and given the older cars a catalog of there own. As we see interest we will increase the product line. What is nice with the old 2002, is with modern performance components, such as aftermarket Fuel injections, and electronic ignition you can mage a much more efficient performance package than in the days when the vehicle was new. First I would decide what your doles are with the car. If you want to drive it to work everyday you need to plan in a different direction then if you are making a track dedicated car. If I were building a street car, I would limit the modes to a mild cam, a weber down draft, possibly bigger valves port & polish, and if bucks allow an M3 s14 crank with custom pistons. This would bump your displacement, giving you the torque you really want ratnet than that 7000 RPM top end horse power. Another great mod, that a friend of mine did was an M20 325i engine in a 2002, endless power, cheap engine to find, and very smooth and reliable. But not very correct if you are restoring the car. Al 74tii 11-22-2005, 03:09 PM if nothing else you should get the sexy new bmp classic catalog http://www.bmpdesign.com/ I"ve not ordered anything yet, but i probably will soon! |
