Hey I figure while I'm at Purdue gotta have some fun. I figure it would be good for us bimmer owners here to unite I see enough bimmers around campus. Some friends of mine and I are planning sometime this year to go to FasTimes go kart track in Indy or there is Silent Thunder (electric karts :( ) in Lafayette. I figure it'd be an awesome time :evil2 . Feel free to gimme a holla on the forum here or aim at ChrisH996.

Well, I graduated from Purdue in '99, but didn't get my BMW(s) until after I left and got a job... Looks like you guys are doing all right for yourselves these days - just be sure not to drive home from Harry's in any of those things!

Haha I went to Harry's once I walked outta there and I don't remember a thing. Let's say it involved waking up in a random place.

Does it count if I am going there next year lol?? I'm all set up to go the school of management next year, just waiting for senior year to end. The only problem is, freshman aren't allowed to have a car....I have two what am I going to do? Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to have to give up either car, but leaving them at home to sit without a drive is stupid.:(

I've known people who park them off campus. Most people say to park at the airport. Otherwise after 5pm you can park till 7am on campus and its no prob on the weekend (just watch out for 24hr reserved). You WILL learn to hate Purdue parking.

Most of the status cars are cool, still kind of an elitest club. The stock z4 with rims and nothing else with a "status" decal is funny.

Are you in that club bebeq?

Tvan

I've never heard of the status club. Anyways, not that my e30 belongs anywhere near those cars, but if i had the m5 that might be a different story. O yea, I'm not Indonesian either.

Thats what i thought. And it was WRONG. I parked at PMU parking garage for two years. Just know how to get in and out for FREE. It has set times when the gates are up and you can go in and out. When its down and you really want to get out, you can pay or pick up the dropped tickets and pay like $1 or 2. The gates are up on weekends.

You will hear stories like "MGMT 200 is a weedout class" Trust me every class get harder not easier.

Yeah I saw a Z4 w/the status sticker on it. I don't see em very much though. I wanna say I've seen the S2000 in the parking lot by Tark before. Hey Tvan are you driving your E30 down here? what color? I see a few of em around. I have the black e34 530i characterized by the damage on the driverside bumper and 1/4 panel and an Arizona flag on the rear by the license plate. :( It gets fixed spring break though. Go Knauz!

Can I ask you alums a question? Especially you School of Management grads.... how did you like the university? Was it a good experience? What would you have done differently? Also, did you find it difficult to land a job after graduating? Thanks guys, I'm starting in August and just wanted an outside opinion.

Haha I went to Harry's once I walked outta there and I don't remember a thing. Let's say it involved waking up in a random place.

I woke up in the mechanical area (the brick-walled area) next to Potter one morning around 4:30am with no pants (but thankfully still boxers) on. Don't remember anything, probably better that way...

I also broke a window on Potter one night by lighting a balloon filled with approximately stoichiometric oxygen and acetylene... good times good times. When I was in FSAE we used to fuck around with everything in the ME building... hell we'd get into the basement and it's a shopping spree. They have since clamped down on things...

Harry's is too expensive anyways. Go to Where Else on mondays, Jakes on Weds, Stacks every other day.

'05 BSME here.

For us from IL the tuition is a lot! You will hear a lot of "this class is weed-out class" and all sorts of BS. I'll tell you what the classes gets harder as you go along the program. You better mantain a 3.3+ GPA or you wont get a job. I cant stress how important it is to get a high GPA. Best is 3.5+. You will have plenty of time to party but make sure you put time for your school work.

Yeah my tuition is going to be almost $31k per year. I didn't realize a college GPA was that important. I plan to have some fun, but for 30 some odd thousand dollars a year, I need to get an education :)

Oh GPA much more important than "clubs" and all that BS. I hire a 3.5+ over a 3.2 guy with bunch of BS clubs. Basically GPA + work exp is the most important. I see clubs as BS cuz u can just join/pay for one and never go. Dont waste time there. Try for internships over the summer.

Yeah I actually start my internship with SAP this summer... and I will also be working at Bill Jacobs BMW as soon as I quit Best Buy. I'm moving on up :) slowly but surely.

I figure as a warning to all my fellow Purdue Bimmers: The cops are cracking down on speeding big time on McCormick road where the construction is and the speed limit is 35 for some ungodly reason. Be aware that one of the vehicles is a Durango w/no visible light bar. In 2 days I've seen 3 people pulled over.

Hey Tvan are you driving your E30 down here? what color? I see a few of em around.

It is a white '91 318is, which unfortunatly I don't have here at school because I have nowhere to park it, and I am letting my brother learn to drive on it. He gets his permit sometime in March, so I should be able to see it over spring break before he destroys its clutch.

I'll be able to bring it back next year though, I'll be living in-house at SAE and they have a lot of parking around there.

another Purdue alum checking in...

Aviation Maintenance Major.

I'm thinking about stopping by the airport on my way from Indy to Chicago next month. Driving the M5 on a business trip to Cincinnati in mid-March, taking a side trip afterward to Milwaukee.

I haven't been to West Lafayette for... yikes - prolly 10 years.

Ain't it fun! I live off campus and I love :mad the C permit. Especially since prices rise $20 each year and they make me park like 1/2 mile from campus. Just what I want:to commute then commute again. When you have your car here next year watch out where you park it. You can park in A and B spots after 5pm but watch out b/c some of them have really small writing that says 24hr zone. That's where I got my first parking ticket and now they're even ripping up that lot to put in another parking garage.

Alright! Bringing this back from the dead! I'm here now, with my car :) Who else goes to Purdue? There's a club here called PAPA I think. They have a forum that I've been on, but it's just a lot of mustangs, civic, and tbirds. Any Purdue bimmers still around?

Yea, it would be nice to meet some bimmer lovers around here. There's a car show tomorrow in memorial mall hosted by PAPA. I'm joining, but there isn't much of a euro crew around here. Anyone know how I can get in touch with STATUS?
