Coming home from a friends house, I pulled up next to a white B5 Audi S4 that appeared to be fairly stock at a light. I hadn't raced anyone in a while, so I was curious as to what I could do against a decent rival (I have minor engine mods, but nothing serious). My clutch is on its way out, so I couldnt drop the clutch off the line (plus I just got new toyo T1-r's, so my tires wouldnt spin much) or else I wouldnt go anywhere. Fortunetly, he didnt launch his car hard either, so that gave me a good chance.

First gear acceleration I had him by a half car length, the ambient temps outside were in the high 30's, and my car felt pretty strong.

Second gear pull I stayed in front, and kept inching away. After third, It was pretty much over, and he let off the gas around 85.

I was very impressed with how hard my car was pulling. Its possible the Audi was an automatic (because I cant believe how badly I stomped on him), or maybe it was just because he didnt launch (awd and their damn 60ft's). Either way, he pulled up next to me and bowed, which made me feel pretty good.

Another kill for the night was in my friends modded evo8 (hks intake, boost controller, downpipe, exhaust, walboro fuel pump, custom tune good for 290whp @20.5psi) vs. a modded 1.8T jetta at a stop light. We gave him a head start, and without launching passed him by third gear :stickoutt Wasnt really a fair race, but still funny. Anyways, gnight :buttrock

nice kills. evos are pretty quick in a straight line but in the corners the m will dominate.

My impression from everything I've read is the Evo is just about the best handling car there is.

Not a _chance_. The evo will destroy an M3 in the corners, without a doubt. Those things have grip that never ends.

lol, its funny you should say that...

Here is a true kill story.

Before my buddies evo was modded, we raced on some back roads near his house. Up and down hill curves, some corners VERY difficult to maneuvor. We were flying into and out of some tight weaves, and with his fairly bald tires, he hit a boost spike and broke loose, then over corrected and crashed into a ditch, and I won. He didnt have SERIOUS damage, mostly just the front bumper, under carriage plastic crap, dented oil cooler and intercooler was toast.

But, Im going to say it right now....your statement is COMPLETELY flawed. The evo's handeling is ridiculous, and with the proper driving technique, it will easily outperform the E36 and probably the E46. The 4g63 platform is also far cheaper and easier to tune.

E36 handles better than an E46.

Yea, I think the E36 is a better track car but the E46 was built for the street.
