Ok so the other day my friend and I got out of class. Class was boring so we spent the whole time comparing cars on paper. We were bored so we decided to run against each other. It just so happens the straightest road around is the road I live on :evil2

Here is the line up

1999 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (him)
Vs.
1996 BMW 328i 5-speed (me)

Here are the conditions

Start from the dig
Run ¾ mile
Slow down 1 mile
And some old dude painting a fence on the side of the road:)

The race

So I was still learning my launch so on go I lay 2 long marks and my friend already has 1 cl on me. I shift to second only after I get caught up in the reverse notch and give him another cl.:( After that I think to myself “oh man he’s gonna win” but I keep on the gas anyways. To my surprise I start pulling hard on him the moment I got it into 2nd gear! By the 1\2 mile mark I was flying by him as the old man looked on in disbelief. :nono At the end of the run I was shifting into 4th gear and I was 3 cl ahead of my friend:redspot

The great thing is my friend had it floored the whole way!

I know it was just a straight away race but still….woot! woot!:alright

A land yacht vs a car on rails? It sounds a bit unfair especially if my car can beat him in the straights too. I need a real race...a drivers race. I'm not the best driver but i'm better than most of the guys out there...only because i've been driving speed machines since I got my liscense...oh and I have the balls to risk it.

One of my friends copied me and bought a 96 Z28 Camaro after I got my 94 T/A.:mad He has absolutly no idea how to drive it hard and he chokes whenever he tries to.:shifty I on the other hand drove my T/A like there was no tomorrow and got a lot of the doughnuts on video...I also recorded the speedo when I topped it out at 140mph in the middle of the night:D I got those clips on our senior video too:redspot

Ha HA the jokes on you.....I felt my back end kick out and I went back to check and there are 2 new long marks that I laid:redspot
On the straight if your lucky and the conditions are right you can lay 2 with an open ended diff!
I can't do 360's or anything like that though:(

From the dig they (Vic's) aren't fast. But on the highway, they are a diferent animal. I was driving one a few months ago and I was next to my cousin in his E36 M3, we decided to run. From 50, he still beat me but it took him a while to get going.

I own a 98 Crown Vic Police Interceptor, and am in the process of purchasing a 97 328i 5spd. The CV is not great from a dig, but is quite profficent from 50-90 after which aerodynamic drag and the lack of high RPM breathing overcome gearing and torque converter advantages. The 328i is not quite as quick off the line as the V8, but is quicker everywhere else. In a race my $$ is on the Bimmer. any distance, any speed.

I wish I would have gotten this on video so nobody could call bs on it. Just keep in mind the cv is a boat and the 99's don't have much power or torque.

I believe you. I'm driving my late dad's 2001 Crown Vic LX with the police interceptor motor. I was not impressed with the speed. Slow off the line. Good mid-range. Top end isn't that great because of the aero dynamic drag on "the brick". Doesn't handle well in triple digits. Even if it had the police suspension and brakes, I don't think I'd want to run triple digits for very long.

I know my 530 is faster and (obviously) much more stable at high speeds.

Ok you can look this up on your own time but my friend said the reason cv's are limited to 120mph is because they have something called "Harmonic Resistance". He says if the car is going around 130mph the tranny and diff will work against each other and just blow up. I'm not too sure I belive him but it's an interesting concept.

Feel sorry for the old guy. must've had a heart attack and messed up the paint job on his fence when he saw a cop car drag racing a BMW. lol, those things are pretty quick for heavy cars. my friends bro is a cop and we got that thing way past 120, i am not shitting you. i was at 120 going next to him and he got on it and i did the same, all the way up to 140 then he backed off and i did the same since it was a cold night and my dunlops dont have traction in cold weather, sux. but yea good kill.
