As far as fitment I would go to Stoptech's website to insure proper sizing. Currently, I am speaking to a guy about the following two setups:

Front 14" brake kit with ST40 4-piston calipers, floating 355mm x 32mm rotors
4-wheel 14"/13.6" brake kit with ST40 4-piston calipers in front, ST22 2-piston calipers in back, floating 355mm x 32mm rotors in front, 345mm x 28mm rotors in back

Based on the level of interest I will forward this on and see what type of pricing I can derive. Wish me luck.

Thanks crazy5! I think I may know who you're talking to for the pricing. Also, we may want to wait on the ST-22/345mm x 28mm rotors for the rears as Stoptech does not make this rotor...yet. It may be cheaper when they do. Just a thought.

I have been told that I should get pricing back early next week. I will be sure to keep you up once I receive it back.

As for the kits here is the two I am getting priced:

Front 14" brake kit with ST40 4-piston calipers, floating 355mm x 32mm rotors
4-wheel 14"/13.6" brake kit with ST40 4-piston calipers in front, ST22 2-piston calipers in back, floating 355mm x 32mm rotors in front, 345mm x 28mm rotors in back

Alright guys I got back the pricing. According to my source if we have 5 commitments he can do a bit better than the below and if we have 10 then even better than that.

PM me if your seriously interested.

- Front 14" brake kit with ST40 4-piston calipers, floating 355mm x 32mm rotors => 2276 plus shipping (3% for paypal)

- 4-wheel 14"/13.6" brake kit with ST40 4-piston calipers in front, ST22 2-piston calipers in back, floating 355mm x 32mm rotors in front, 345mm x 28mm rotors in back => 4530 plus shipping (3% for paypal)

Both kits include: lines, pads, and it is extra to have the rotors drilled.

This is what I can get: BMW 540i, 96-00 - 355mm x 35mm, 2-pc.- Drilled & Slotted Rotors, Wilwood 6 Piston - Superlite Calipers, Brackets, Pads, SS Flex Hoses, Hardware, instructions = $2199.00

Note, the pic is for reference, the calipers are six piston these are four. May be able to do a better price with group buy.

Note 2, sorry, not trying to hijack, just trying to help up all save a couple of bucks.

Two questions:

1. Will this fit a 2003 540i sport?
2. What kind of quality is wilwood?

1. I have sent an e-mail to find out if it will fit a '03 540i.
2. To my knowledge Wildwood makes very good brake product, I have always heard very good things about them.

I will let you know when I find out about the fitment.

You throw in a 190 Sportline and I will throw in the Motul!! If we get a group buy I should be able to do that.

How do the Wilwoods compare to the StopTechs overall?

There is no fitment problem for your car, 18" wheels are recommended for this kit.

I have to do some research on the comparison between Wildwood and Stoptech, I will let you know what I come up with.

This is the response that I got when I requested specs for the bbk:

Our BMW E39 540 Sport brake upgrade crunches out to be an upgrade of 10% hydraulic improvement and a 20% overall effectiveness upgrade over stock. What this means essentially is that with 10% less pedal effort you are going to have 20% more braking effectiveness over stock braking effectiveness.

What this means to the user is this. On a one stop basis our brake will out gun stock by the amounts mentioned above, this is our bench mark for comparison based on the fact that the automotive industry tests all brake systems on a one stop basis.

When you look beyond one stop, you add the fact of a larger rotor mass to better dissipate heat, slower to heat & quicker cooling, less opportunity for fade. Two piece rotor and aluminum hat, six piston Forged aluminum caliper with greater piston area, more clamping pressure. Braided SS brake hoses for better pedal modulation. Equal or slightly less weight to stock with greater capacity for continued stopping on a repetitive basis.

You can also get this kit with a four piston caliper for $1799.00.

I will move this over to the group buy section for those interested.

Sounds like more of you are favoring the Wilwood kit. I spoke with another break specialist and heard that the wilwoods have a lot of flex in them. What ever that means.

I have heard nothing but good things, even back several years ago from some racing buddies. They spoke very highly of them, and even today I have heard nothing but good things. If someone out there knows something bad about Wildwood let us know. Thanks.
