Well I just got done reading a bunch of threads I found by searching for my problems...

BTW...this is all for a 98 540

I read that I may have a bad thermostat or water pump if my lower radiator hose is not warm/hot after driving around awhile. Thats not even what I was looking for when I discovered that.

To add, I have a decent dripping leak coming out of my expansion tank area. Its at the top, near the cap/bleeder, but underneath the shroud. So I can't see where its coming from.

Now, for my questions...

Where can I buy these parts (water pump, thermostat, expansion tank), reliable/cheap/etc? I think I may be able to tackle these myself. I did the radiator myself recently.

Is there anything I need to know/look out for/etc while attempting this stuff?

To change subjects real quick... I am wanting to pick up a new shift lever. The shift knob I have on there now, is stuck. So in order to get rid of it, I am going to have to cut it off. So I am searching for a cheap/used/etc shift knob to swap out.

Thanks in advance!

Join the BMW Car club and then you will be able to get 15-25% off parts from the dealer. Compare the prices to Bravarian Autosport on the web.

dont want to say it. but i hope you did the bleeding correctly. There are so many nuance procedures that one little mistake, can hurt your coolant system.

There is a hose that goes from top of expansion tank to top right hand side of radiator. It is under the shroud, expansion tank can break where hose attaches. Good place to start checking.
