I was parked with my hazard lights on on the side of a building in a suburb of Pittsburgh. Anyway, I went in to get something in a store and came out to watch the car incase the parking authority rolled up. Parking was complete madness, garage full, parking lots full, etc. So I decided to park there. (only there for max. of five minutes) So sure enough these ass clowns appear right next to me in a four way intersection. One of the jokers points out the the other ingrate that my car needed to be ticketed. At that point I ran through the intersection, hit the remote start, got in and took off before he had a chance to ticket me. Oh and he tried really hard too. He practically leaped from his pos cavalier and frantically tired to enter my license plate and info in his ticket issuing gadget, and yelled "hey where are you going," as I jumped into my car. Long story short, are they permited to issue me a ticket via mail since it wasn't issued correctly or lawfully? (i.e given to me or placed on my windshield) Or should I expect a notice in the mail.

- Not in a school zone
- Not in a loading area
- Not in a handicap spot
- Not within sight of a fire hydrant

Thanks,
RWFF

It sounds like you were in a no-parking zone, otherwise why would you have put your flashers on and then fled the scene when they tried to ticket you?

I would say yes, you could be ticketed by mail and it would be legit.

I doubt he will get the ticket in the mail... I would expect him to get a notice of non-payment/late fee by mail.

I say fuk 'em. If they mail you a ticket, say, "I didn't recieve a ticket on my car. Are you sure it was me?" End of story. :D

Oh, I got a parking ticket in Ocean City 2.5 years ago. They gave me a ticket for having my lefts tire next to the curb (driver's side of the car was facing the curb). I didn't agree with it, so I didn't pay it. B@stards still send me a notice about it. :laugh

The pretty standard fee is $40.00, but it depends.

No, DC style would be to arrest you and then plant some sort of narcotic on you in the process :help :paranoid:

$40 Fine eh? thats a tough one in hindsight right now. Did you run from a metermonkey or Pitt Police?

Ignoring tickets is all well and good until you go to renew your registration. I got nailed for that in Milwaukee a number of years ago, from a ticket that I never actually got. I fought it and managed to get the ticket torn up, but it was a fiasco. :(

Exactly. Dont expect that excuse to even hold up.

The parking Nazis at Univ. of MD got me good. The late fees kept piling up and piling up... until they wouldnt let me graduate without paying. All because I thought it was invalid due to them not putting it on my car... :embarrasm

The same thing happened to my cousin at Salisbury, but his were accumulated over the 6.5 years he was there. It was something outrageous like +$400.

Not for me. I've renewed my license, ALL my cars registrations, and my emissions. :D

I know I don't drive my 325 much but I actually got the ticket in that. :D He probably thought some rich guy was in town and he could make a quick buck off me. :mad

It was across the street from Jed's house in OC. 4th of July weekend. Parking was limited and as I was driving down the street, I saw a spot on the opposite side of the street. So I drove into the spot without making a U-turn because I didn't want to lose the spot. What's so bad about that? :D

Bummer.

I'd probably inquire to the department of motor vehicles (or maybe the police station?) to see if there are any outstanding tickets on your registration. If not, then ignore it. If so, pay it soon.
