What is best and why - particularly to the people that have installed and run them. My manifold has either option with a little work, I was leaning towards the lower rear to try and keep engine bay heat down a little better, but was curious.

Thanks.

On the m20 equal lenght proturbo style manifolds - the turbos are mostly up on the front.

Which manifold are you using and is this on an M10?

Yes on the M10. Manifold is a modified 6cyl item.

a 524TD manifold? if you mount it low you get better access (sp?)to your spark plugs, shorter downpipes, shorter oil drain. But you will need to run longer charge pipes, make sure your turbo doesn't hit the motor mount, or intake pipe to the turbo doesn't hit the mount.
If you mount it up you might hit the valve cover, changing spark plugs will take you more time, but the piping to intercooler is straighter/shorter, easier to service the turbo since it is right there.
But the best thing of mounting it up high, the look on people faces when you open the hood. If it is down low you can't see it easily.
Jbob and Attila have their turbos mounted up, mine is down low.
