I have my left side caliper hanging up a little. My rotors are good, maybe 2 years old or so, and the rest of the braking system is fine.
Are they any reasonable caliper upgrades i could make, on a stock system? or should i just re-build them, or get new ones.
i have no intention yet to re-do the system with upgraded rotors etc..
Just wondering if there was another caliper i could use in place of rebuilt ones. If not re-built ones should be better than what i currently have.
Thanks

When working correctly, the stock brake system on an 02 is excellent. Unless you are going for a big brake kit (from Ireland), I would just get the caliper rebuilt, or find a good used one. You may want to check both sides, or the new one may brake better and pull to that side. Beaner7102

Go with the big brake kit (320 vented rotors with Volvo 240 calipers). I have it on my 75 2002 and it's a world of difference!

You could rebuild them for very little money. They are pretty easy to disassemble, however if you do plan to rebuild them, and you suspect the pistons are sticking try this. Leaving the caliper and brake lines in place, only remove one brake pad. Have someone gently depress the brake pedal while you are watching the piston travel. Some pistons will begin moving out while one or two stay in there bore. Placing something in the space to block the pistons that are moving this will force the stuck pistons to begin moving. Once they travel out about 1/2 inch, then push them back and repeat the process. Switch the one brake pad after you have sprayed a little WD40 on the outside of the piston. This will free things up so after you remove the calipers you can actually get the pistons out of the caliper. The pads should be the old worn ones that you don't intend to use again.
