I had just finished dinner with my girl in Boston and we were heading home. I was stopped at a light waiting to make a left and get on the Pike [highway.] I see this silver Z8 drive by as I'm waiting and I start going crazy, I could not belive it, I mean I have seen that car on the road since it came out only maybe like 10 times! Anyway, I turn and catch up to it...I'm in my car thinking...please get on the pike, please get on the pike...and to my surprise he floors it and gets on the ramp to take the pike :redspot So since he was slowed down by a car ahead of him, I caught up and stayed really close to let him know I want some action :devillook I kept it reved in 2nd at about 4k rpms waiting to go. As soon as we merged on the highway, I signal over a couple of lanes [3 lane highway, went from R to lane to far L lane] at WOT. He gets over one and was accel but obviously not floored b/c I was gaining on him pretty good. Before I know, when I was about to his hood, and approaching my shift point, he goes WOT! Holy smokes, he started to really pull away then, at that point I decided to rev it all the way through 2nd to get as much speed posible...threw it in 3rd...problem was the middle lane [his lane] had a car in front, my lane was clear, if he kept it a WOT he would have had enough space to take my gap, but he backed off a little and decided to take the R lane, clever I thought...now both the L lane [lane I was in] and the R lane [lane he was in] had cars in front of us...so it was a race to see who can get the middle lane the fastest...now since he backed off for a second, I was about 3/4 ahead at this point, so I looked over, saw that I had the advange and took the middle lane since there was no way he could gain all that on me in such a short period of time. At this point I was done with 3rd and took it to 4th, looked back thinking he would be on my tail, but he was all done...let me go :( I really wanted to see that car in more action though.

To see a Z8 is one thing, but to have a Z8 run with you...all I can say is WOW! He probably thought my car was an M3 or something and as soon as he got behind me and saw I was a 330ci...he probably said it's not worth my fuel :)

there is a black Z8 about a block from my house and every time it's out of the garage i have to take a few laps around the block just to look. i can't imagine running with one. one of the most underrated super cars of recent.

My dad lives in Boston and was thinking about the ALPINA Z*8.
He would have raced with you a little bit. But you have to be careful,
the POPO are everywhere. They are unmarked as well.

I asked him why would he want to spend his life savings on a car, that you always have to garage, and can not park it in his private spot in the back alley in the back bay. You would always worry about it, and there is no way you are going to drive this machine in the snowy conditions.

He said yeah, he knows. But this Z8 was grey and was at the Herb Chambers BMW for a little while.
He did think about it. Its a lot of Mola to part with.
But in all honesty they are incredible cars, and are underrated.

I would perfer Italian cars for the same price.
There is something about them.

Yah, it's not the ugly but not hawt at the same time. :stickoutt Anyway it would still be cool to see more here in MN, I don't expect it though, shiot, I barely see many other BMW's in my town...so I get plenty of looks. :cool

BTW, sounded like a lot of fun dude!

I'm assuiming your dad lives on Marlborough st? Nice area! I used to date a girl that lived there, but if he is going to park it outside in the bakc alley I would not recommend it. My car was broken into twice there...well it was the Corolla, so I didn't care as much, but still, tell him to look out. And no, can't drive in the snow...but if I was your dad, I would still get it anyway ;) If he ends up getting it, tell him congrads and to enjoy every milisecond of drving it!

Not many bimmers there huh? Yeah, I remember in PA it was the same, I had a friend that lived there and owned an E46 328i, everyone hated him b/c he had a BMW...and yes, he got lots of look too ;)

It was tons of fun, thanks!

I love Z8's. A friend of mine's dad owns a Z8 Alpina and he took me for a quick ride in it. We tried to play with a C5 but the guy had his wife in the car, but when my buddy got on it, wow is that quick. And the engine sound is amazing. Gotta love rich friends with nice toys.

yeah they are sweet cars. My friend had a Z8 for about a month. He drove the shit out of it, we had some serious fun with it in the rain. He would of run with you, he got a ticket in it doin over a 100 on the highway. He always has sweet cars though for example right now he has F360, old jag, about 4 1960's vettes, 2 landrover defenders, 2 911s, new charger, 300, 1930 ford, some harley's, the list goes on and on.

There must be something wrong with other Z8 drivers...when I'm behind the wheel, i'm either WOT or hard on the brakes, nowhere inbetween, and if someone worthy wanted a go (I'm not wasting my gas on a honda) I would go from a dig, roll...whatever. No point in owning a fast car if you drive like a wuss...

So, which car on that list is actually yours? It says specifically "Your Cars ... Not your parent's car, not your company car, not your sister's car... just your car(s)"... so what's the deal?

I was wondering the same thing ^^^^^^^^^^.
He states his cars as being the: 332i turbo, M6, Z8, A8L, 911E, 356 GS/GT Speedster. That is without a doubt a diverse list and pretty noteworthy. However, you being 18 and all creates doubt in my mind and makes me wonder umm.... are you from an uber-wealthy family or did you invest in google at a young age?

Of course the most logical choice is wealthy family and a dad with nice taste, and that's fine, but c'mon, don't pretend like the Z8 is yours for instance.

It depends on my mood, but you are right, most of the time I'm at WOT, and unlike you though, I will pretty much chalenge anyone willing to run, don't care how slow or fast they are :) Remember, I used to drive a Corolla. ;)

Only 18????? How'd you even get just one of those cars?
No shame in admitting that you're loaded, if that's the case:D
