I am thinking about removing the A/C in my 83 and was wondering if anyone has done it. Is there anything in particular I have to do or is it like a normal a/c unit?

if you want to keep your heat, there is a long strand of cables that all connect to eachother that plugs in at the heater core inside the car. Keep that plugged in if you want to keep your heater blower... If you unplug that and leave it out then your heater wont turn on...

But besides that, just rip that crap out of there. Nothing to it... lol

i was thinking about removing the a/c from my parts car and putitng it on my 78...since it's an auto anyway it's already slow and the a/c can't make it go much slower than already does...

I did discover the darn a/c actually still has coolant in it....I have no way to capture the stuff since the car isn't exactly gonna make it for a stroll to the garage to have it evacuated.....

I think they make a removal kit that sells for like 40 bucks. Im not for sure though. I think its the same company that make the conversion kit from r-12 to r-134. I could be wrong though.

Mate, just go nuts and rip it out - few pipes coming on, big ass blower motor, compressor and receiver dryer in the bay....won't take ya long :)

I only have my condensor to pull out, but it's handy having the fan mounted and a switched rigged up to toggle it on when it gets hot or whenever you want :)

Cheers
