View Full Version : Local feeler: maybe selling my G/C coilovers
OkieM3 11-09-2005, 10:09 PM Any of you local guys/gals interested in my Ground Control coilover setup? It's on my 99 E36 M3. It's the Street kit that sells for $1000 on Ground control's website....
http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php/II=536/CA=9
The kit is still on my car if anyone wants a test ride to check it out. I've got the 7" 375 lb front springs and 5.5" 500 lb rears. You can order other heights and spring rates from Ground Control. The adjustable sleeves allow for about 2" adjustments up and down on the ride height. I'm guessing this kit has about 15-20k miles on it (not sure since I bought it used about a year ago, and I've only put about 8k on it).
I'm looking for around $600 plus your front struts, since I don't have any struts to put on my car.
I will also be getting rid of my front and rear UUC Sway Bars as seen at the bottom of this page... http://www.understeer.com/onlinestore-suspension.shtml
I'll need $175 for these.
This is for the local boys/girls only, so if you east and west coasters search and find this, I will not be shipping this stuff........yet.
Don't PM me. Email at gmaj66@cox.net
JedzE36/5 11-09-2005, 11:49 PM holy shit i want your sways. i need to pay off the motor first though. bump for a good guy!
Dolemite 11-10-2005, 12:49 AM Why are you getting rid of them? I just bought a race/track kit for a project car.
Ride too rough? Too low? Which dampers are/were you running? And are the dampers included?

I thought I was gonna be racing/tracking the car, but never seem to find the time. I may end up selling the whole car and getting a shifter kart for my adrenaline rush...plus I've got a '55 T-Bird I'm about to put a bunch of money into.
The ride is nowhere near being too rough with these springs, maybe even nicer than stock due to the "on rails" feeling you get..not as "floaty"....now if I swapped in some 500/600 lb springs (which you can find all over the For Sale section), it might be a little rough on these roads. It has the Koni SA front and rear.
Dolemite 11-10-2005, 01:26 AM Have any pics of the ride height? Both upper and lower?

mrdezyne 11-10-2005, 03:53 PM Nutcrackers! I just sold my 325 but I would have been all over those sways! Jed, not sure if those will work for your TI, at least not the rears..... Do some checking.

Jed:
Call Rob @ MPACT Motorsports: 801-270-5820. He'll be able to tell you if it'll work.
speedster 11-11-2005, 03:49 AM the sways come with everything i need to bolt up?
also on their page it doesnt list 328is should work though right guys?
speedster 11-11-2005, 03:50 AM also how about the suspension, what would i need extra to get it to fit on my 96 328is?
OkieM3 11-11-2005, 11:09 AM The sways come with everything you see in the picture on UUC's website...the sways, the rear end links and the poly bushings.
As far as the fitment, I think (but not positive) the sways would work on your car....not sure about what it would take to make the coilovers work though.
OkieM3 11-11-2005, 11:21 AM I would highly recommend, to whoever ends up with the sway bars, that you also order and install these rear sway bar bracket support tabs:
http://www.mpactmotorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=36_84_54&products_id=83&osCsid=94de5d3d2a4e4d0dcb946994e4162ca0
The stress caused by beefier bars will eventually break the mounting brackets off your car....these simple $2 pieces of metal welded on will save them. I've got them on my car if you want to crawl under and take a peak at where they mount.
weaksauce 11-13-2005, 01:11 PM any of thisstill available? I'm in Dallas. PM me if so.

Surprisingly yes....all is still available. Everyone tell your friends about it please. I would rather help out a local MOFO than ship it off somewhere. I'm pretty sure this stuff will be gone by the end of the day if I list it on the "For Sale" section.
OkieM3 11-15-2005, 11:56 AM Last day guys...this evening I'm posting on the "For Sale" board. $750 for G/C coilovers and UUC Swaybarbarians....

It's starting to look that way....
If anybody knows where I can find a used set of front M3 struts, this might be a done deal.

I knew the Toon man could come through if I begged enough. Hey Brian...this is starting to look better for you if you're still interested.
WeiBCoupeE36 11-19-2005, 10:23 PM im almost certain he is very interested...we were talking about it earlier today
speedster 11-21-2005, 10:35 PM im thinking hard on it, but im iffy with the mileage. for not a whole lot more i could go new.
OkieM3 11-21-2005, 11:58 PM Not trying to be a salesman or anything, but you might want to reconsider.
$1000 Ground Control coilovers
$350 UUC Sways
$75 Shipping (est.)
$1425
What you don't see, other than a $700 savings, is the time and effort savings from not having to do the cutting and gutting of the front struts. The new ones only come as an assembly that you have to modify into your front strut housing. You have to take a hack saw or cut off blade to your front struts. It is a pain in the ass to do. Like I said....not trying to force these on you. Just trying to give you all the info to consider.

I second that. I have done it twice on two friend's cars.
weaksauce 11-22-2005, 12:04 PM still offering $500 plus my front struts......
That's all I have right now...
WeiBCoupeE36 11-22-2005, 02:58 PM he does have a point tho brian.....the cutting and fitting of the struts suck from what i hear
speedster 11-23-2005, 02:35 AM but i could buy suspesion specificly for my car and wouldnt have to do all that correct.
M3Jhawk 11-23-2005, 10:02 AM but i could buy suspesion specificly for my car and wouldnt have to do all that correct.Review what Greg is selling: http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php/II=536/CA=9 ($1000. + S&H))
To avoid using original M3 housings and surgery on them you would have to go with this GC setup: http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php/II=537/CA=9 ($1400 + S&H)
.. plus your getting $350 UUC Swaybarians!
even if you have to spend a few $ on some front strut housings (the "strut" can be toast!), you come out ahead.
Greg's a good-guy, he helped out with my suspension swap......you'll be getting a great deal! :redspot

Other than lending my DeWalt cordless impact wrench and making fun of Lieberman, I don't think I did much work....but thanks for the support! It's kinda funny how we seem to work on cars. We always seem to be ready to work on each others cars, but never do much work on our own. I've seen Lieb getting greasy under your car, and I know I've been greasy under his car.
WeiBCoupeE36 11-26-2005, 08:12 PM but i could buy suspesion specificly for my car and wouldnt have to do all that correct.
depending on the struts, you would have to cut the housing. i know of that with koni's but not with bilstein
Team FMS 11-30-2005, 12:19 PM who is this WeiBcoupeE36??? and why does he chime in when he knows nothing of modifications to E36's??? Have him come to Beez on Thurs and i'll crack a couple of nuckles so he cant post anymore :mad

So far....yep.
We might talk about swapping wheels too. I've got the polished LTW's with brand new Eagle F1 tires. Your Contours and some cash might tempt me. If you buy the coilovers, you'll have first dibs on the LTW's.
And here come the 20 requests from everybody else for my wheels...
jmitro 12-03-2005, 11:20 PM i want your ltw wheels.
oh, wait, i've already committed to several other things this year. damn.
weaksauce 12-04-2005, 02:10 AM I'm not feeling the love here. Did you ever get any front struts? My sister lives up by you, so if we can get a deal going, I could have her drop by and pick them up.........

I'm not feelin' any either. A lowball offer and my car on blocks for a few weeks 'til you get me your struts doesn't really entice me much.....sorry. Have your sister show up with your struts, my FAIR asking price, and a bottle of wine, then we've got love. ;)

If you saw my sister, you would ask me to have her drop them at the door and run. Hell you would probably give me the struts to make her go away.
I offered to send you my struts beforehand or I could send 'em with Jason Toon next time he heads that way if he doesn't mind hauling them. I'm sorry if I offended you with my offer of 20% less than your asking price because of the inconveniance of my car sitting on blocks while I wait for struts.
So are you hard lined at $600, or can you meet me half way on the deal if I send you my struts ahead of time?
Jeff
