I was wandering if anyone has any info on putting a m54 in a 2002. I have been looking into doing an engine swap. I know the most popular is the s14, but can't you get a newer m54 for the same or less money. If anyone has seen one or has any thaughts, lets hear them.

If you want a really difficult project, yes, anything can be done. Realistically, no. If you do want to do this, then go with nothing else but an S50 and work out all the power you can out of it because the these large sixes pack on a lot of weight. Plan on pretty much overhauling your car if you plan on putting this engine in. Your biggest enemy is weight - how are you going to shift it rearward and lower. Second most is fabrication. These engines have no like parts to the 2002. It will be completely custom. Email me offline for further details. I'm going there with an S50 and its going to be a full-hard-on race car. I doubt anyone here would recommend this project, but since I'm slowly doing it, I can help you decide.

The fabrication does not really worry me but the time does. Do you have any pics of the progress with your swap. I would like to see what you have done. How much did you have to cut out of the firewall. The reason that I like the m54 is becouse has enough horse power for my needs but is also has the alluminum block.
