View Full Version : Paintwork and body kit shop?
Penguin-Police 11-09-2005, 02:09 PM I have a bit of hard-earned money laying around and I want to freshen my car up and make it look meaner.

First, my hood and grille surround are dented. I have a grill surround, but I need a new hood. Is there anywhere that I can get a non-OEM hood for cheap? Maybe an asian rip-off?
After I get an M3 body kit, I'll need to get the new hood, grill surround, bumpers and skirts painted. Can you guys recommend a good shop?
I'm new to the whole modding thing, so can you tell me how much the body kit fitting/assembly and paint process might cost, not including the price of a hood and body kit?
Remember, I'm po'! The cheaper the better.

Penguin-Police 11-09-2005, 10:45 PM So, how about I get a body shop to spray my nose panel and fake ass ebay hood:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E36-92-98-CARBON-FIBER-HOOD-BLOWOUT-SALE-NO-RES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33646QQitemZ8013484 121QQrdZ1
And buy a fake ass ebay body kit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-93-94-95-96-97-98-E36-BMW-M3-FULL-body-kit-NR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ36475QQitemZ80119426 21QQrdZ1
Then spray the body kit with some primer, some towerpaint.com cans, and some clear? You think that'll cut it?
JedzE36/5 11-09-2005, 11:48 PM i say buy buy a quality front and rear bumper. stick to polyurethane or ABS plastic for the bumper/lip. IMO nothing looks worse than a crappy fiberglass bumper that doesnt match the body lines of the car and requires a lot more money to modify to fit the car. you get what you pay for. but by all means sideskirts get fiberglass. i bought some fiberglass replica M3 skirts.
but on topic, my shop is Custom Concepts off of Shields Blvd. it is in South OKC by I-35. It is primarily a custom truck place (they have over 10 cover cars on magazines). the price is competitive and they do a great job. like i said you get what you pay for.
mrdezyne 11-10-2005, 03:39 PM I agree with Jed-i, for the paint work get it done by someone that knows how to sling paint, or find someone that knows what they are doing to help you learn and paint them yourself. You will never be happy with a spray can paint job, especially when these parts fit side by side with the factory paint. Once you get the pieces painted and looking great you can install the stuff yourself or call on some MOFO help, provide some beer, and have an install party. MOFO's work better slightly inebriated!:beer
Plans look great! I have a stock hood that just needs hail dents removed from half of it. Its Hellrot red and will need paint but it can go cheap.....

Pull the already painted skirts from a 97 or 98. My 318i was a 98 and they were painted. Check with various salvage yards...
