vodomagoo 11-08-2005, 11:15 PM honda-tech.com has a great forum for road racing, cornercarvers and improvedtouring.com is great too grand am has one on there homepage. some forums have vendor rules thought so make sure you check it out first
Geo31 11-08-2005, 11:19 PM There is Rennlist (Porsche). It has an outstanding and knowledgeable racing forum. However, you will need to be a paid advertiser to promote your service.

Steve J. 11-09-2005, 12:38 AM There are dozens of hardcore Motorsport forums, but they get very specialized, and most are engineering/tech based. I know of several where you will not see one post that is shorter then a page. Its mostly guy in the late 30's and 40's who sit down and write a small novel for each post. Insane amounts of info to soak in, but there is some amazing stuff written in these forums. Not much BS, just a lot of good information specifically tailored to the type of forum.
If you want just general Motorsport forums, google for them, but its mostly opinions. If you want tech related, there are some great specific forums out there. Rennlist is good, ferrarichat used to be good, but too many "kids/immature's" have joined recently in my opinion. SCCA has some decent forums, Honda-tech is good for all the honda challenge and scca/honda stuff (obviously).

Sounds interesting, have any names to look for?
Steve J. 11-09-2005, 09:16 AM Specifically what do you want to discuss in the forum?
EggyM3 11-09-2005, 12:18 PM Vehicle dynamics or good series-specific forums would be awesome.
Steve J. 11-09-2005, 12:56 PM Sports Racer Forum is good for tech stuff (aero, susp, etc). www.fsae.com has tech stuff as well. WC has a forum on SCCA pro's website, and www.grandamerican.com has a board as well. www.sccaforums.com www.f2000.com
tylerAWe36m3 11-09-2005, 02:01 PM thanks for the info guys, but i am looking for a site that has club racers that would be interested in helmet painting and buying safety equipment. not tech info.

Are you a forum sponsor?
tylerAWe36m3 11-09-2005, 07:31 PM ^ no but i wasn't advertizing, i just had a pic of my helmet and another helmet i did. i wasn't soliciting.
Geo31 11-09-2005, 08:09 PM Hey, I certainly don't have a problem with that, but forum owners get funny about that. I can see their point. However, most forum advertising is prohibitively expensive for small part-time business owners (I'm one of those).
On Rennlist I think they are going to set up a way for small shops to offer things through a special section of Rennlist where the order is placed through Rennlist and a small portion goes to the site. In fact, it's a suggestion I made because of the fact forum sponsorship is prohibitive for small part-time businesses starting out.
If you'd like an e-intro to the forum owner of Rennlist to discuss this topic, I'd be happy to do the intro.
I think most forums would be smart to find a way to accomodate micro businesses that cater to their readers.
Steve J. 11-09-2005, 08:26 PM well we're getting offtopic, but...
Its the new market for advertising, and the companies that have money are willing to fork it over, and the forum admin know this. This is why the "levels" of contribution are nice.
tylerAWe36m3 11-10-2005, 03:30 AM at this point i can't afford to do the lowest level of advertising on this site. its like 350 a month for the cheapest. i understand the concept but i should be able to get away w/ little things like saying my business name. it's not like i am stealing business away from anybody or being a pirate. i just want people to know about my services. i'm not selling parts, i'm selling art.
mijgilbert 11-10-2005, 09:41 AM My guess is that your picture in the signature was too big. Go and read the rules as it says.
