Hi all,

About a year ago i replaced the brakes on my 2002 at all four corners. In doing this i found out the car has tii front brakes and 320 rear drums. It still didn't stop all that well after i did that and i know i bleed the system correctly. this past summer i had to put in a new main brake line to the rear of the car. I had Labelle and Leitner in Greenfield, MA do this for me. At the same time i had them flush the system and refill/bleed it. The thing is it still doesn't stop for crap and the pedal doesn't seem like it is going down as far as it should. What could be wrong? Thanks again for the info.

Hey Tyrel,
Ive had the same issue with my brakes. What pads do you have?
The drums may need to be adjusted but I would think L&L adjusted them properly. I have a feeling I will never be satisfied with the brakes on the '02 without a major big brake upgrade.

It requires excessive pedal effort to stop the car?

Could be the brake booster, but I've never heard of them failing. I believe there is a way to check it by pumping the pedal and then starting the car. You may want to look it up on the FAQ.

EDIT: I was about the mention the brake pads, but don't have experience with differnent pads. Now that I saw VTbimmer mention it, you may want to have a look.

The pads should be stock to allow the best grip under normal conditions. If its a high performance pad you will need to get them real hot before they grip well.

my tii brakes like crazy with stock tii setup. Something is fishy going on in your car.. not sure what, but you should be well satisfied with the stopping power unless you are pusing serious HP or something

i have stock brake pads. it doesn't seem to require alot of force really, just the pedal goes down like 1 to 1 1\2 of an inch and stops.

If the pedal only goes a short travel (without slowing you down much), I bet your booster is toast or at least on the way out. Its common for them to go on RHD cars (like mine) but not the LHD ones but they still die. Check it out. Beaner7102
