Hello all,

I have done the searches and read all the feedback on the GC Track/School coil overs and some on the TCKline D/A setup. I am looking for a competitive suspension for autocross, HPDE track days (5-7 days per year in run group 1), and daily driven car (not asking for much!!) for my newly acquired '95 M3. I have already decided on coilovers.

My question is this:
My ultimate choice would be the TCKline D/A setup, but at $2800 (w/camber plates etc.) it is a budget buster as I do have other needs to get to as well. If I go with a GC track/school setup (~$1600) will I be giving up alot? Is the TC Kiline setup worth that much more money? How does the GC compare to the S/A TCKline setup? I would really appreciate your experiences/successes with these setups compared to other competitors cars. Almost all the really well setup M3's around here run the TCKR D/A's... $$$$$$

TIA,
Bob

I have the TC Kline DA setup. Yes it is expensive but you get world class customer support with it. I was at the same point as you looking at weather to get singles or doubles and TC Kline vs Ground control. GC has the price advantage but from my research they do not have as good a customer support. I can call TC and tell them what track and what springs and they will give you a start point for shock settings. It is really nice. Just if you go SA make sure the rear Konis are the top adjustable and not the take off and compress to adjust kind. You will never change them after you install them. I love my suspension. JMHO.

Thanks for the quick response. Glad to here you like your choice! I know I would love those too, I am just looking to keep the budget down for other things by going GC or TC S/A. Just for the record, I would be sourcing these through Bimmerworld who is noted for their excellent customer service also. I know GC cust service is good when you can get someone-but good luck getting someone on the phone :-) They really should just sell through a dealer network!
Lets here from some more happy people :redspot

Thanks,
Bob

I too am in the market for coilovers, and i have been planning on GC because of budget constraints, and whatnot. Anyway, I called up GC and I talked to i think the owner (i forget his name) for an hour on setup ideas and spring rates. Super helpful and great advice. Not sure if it is unusal to get ahold of them but i got in contact on my first call and they were super helpful. So dont count out their service, just my .02

big fan of tckline, got my shocks and springs from them, when i need parts the day before a track weekend they have no problem making sure that it actualy gets sent out that day for me. i have a pretty damn unurthodox set up on my e30 and refered me to places that could help me with parts they didnt have for my car.

Bob,

Give Mario a call. He'll tell you all you want to know about GC versus TCK.

Good luck with the new car.

Bob - Seriously consider the TCKline SA coilovers. I finally took 1st for the season from Mark S. using those Single Adjustables, and now he wants my exact suspension for next year. You've seen him drive so that should tell you something. If the two of us have exactly equal cars, I'm not sure I can beat him, so I'll have to come up with something else for next year! :D

I also have some MotorForce camber plates I can sell you for cheap to help keep your costs down. Let me know.

At any level TC Kline is where it's at. I have the TCK suspension that Jim Simpson had on his M3 LTW when he set a few track records around here. That says something.

Hey Max,

I didn't realize you were running the TCK S/A's or I would have asked you about them at the last autocross! Have you driven on any cars with the D/A's for comparison? I have now heard that the extra compression adjustment won't really make a difference except to soften them for street driving-which does not matter that much to me. What spring rates did you end up going with? Are they OK for street too? I have been considering the MF camber plates also. Why are you getting rid of them? I may take them off your hands-let me know what you want for them...

Yeah, Mark is going to be really tough next year especially with those 255 Azenis RT615's. I am assuming you are going to have to do the same with the tires to match him! The part that scares me is the fender rolling and pulling to get them to fit :help

You are a pretty damn fast driver yourself :stickoutt I think you could pull it off in equal cars against Mark, but it will be a dogfight to the finish for sure!! Don't count out Eric Heinrich in the E30 M3-he may pull something out for next year and surprise everybody too!

Thanks,
Bob

Hey Max,

Thank you I did get it! I think at this point I am just going to bite the bullet and go for the TCKline D/A's w/ the TC camber plates etc all assembled and ready to bolt on. Spring rates TBD. The S/A's sound really nice too, but TC is out of stock on these until Jan and knowing myself I would just wonder if I should have gone D/A and end up upgrading later! (much like yourself!) :D Thanks for all your help and best of luck to your on your STU quest next season! See you on the runways :buttrock

Thank you,
Bob
