bmwpwr84 made a reference to this road in another thread we had about good area drives. Old highway 10 between Alma and Alta Vista looks to be a blast. I'm going to go out there Saturday and give it a run. Highway 4 out of Topeka to there looks like it might be interesting also. Should be about 250 miles round trip from my side of town. I know the hardcore track guys will be in OK at an DE, but if anyone not going there wants to give this drive a try let me know.

I got that map off Rand-McNally and if you go down to next lower scale it looks even better. I'll bet there isn't a straight mile on the whole road. I couldn't get that scale to fit on one screen.

A very fun road, probably not the most crooked in Kansas, but worth the drive. One feature that makes it fun is most of corners don't have warning signs as you approach. Several are blind, so it really keeps you on your toes. Highway 4 out of Topeka to Eskridge is very delightful, then take 99 north to Alma. Another very good road. Gently rolling and winding, not many super tight low speed corners. Then in Alma find Old 10 to Alta Vista, it's not marked, but the only road that goes west is it. After alta Vista, either turn around and backtrack or get back on Highway 4 south of alta Vista and it leads you back. It was about 4 hours round trip from the west side of town. Old 10 is not a tight and technical as Hyw 5, but it is three times longer. It is also some lonely country out there. Today was way too windy, but a good recon trip for another day.

sharp turns with no gaurd rails and cliffs and dropoffs everywhere. soooo much fun at high speeds

Sounds like a blast but too far for a day trip.
How about a Great Plains Rally/Cruise? That would be sweet.

Post a map or give some towns and highway numbers, please and thank-you.
