View Full Version : Any Newbie Mofo's, Next Meet Nov 19th
mrdezyne 11-07-2005, 10:18 PM Attention ol school and newbie MOFO's alike, after the poll last week it has been decided to change the date of the next/last MOFO meet for the year.
Saturday November 19th we will be having dinner at Baxter's InterUrban downtown Tulsa. Format is still the same as the last post just the date has moved. I'm setting dinner time for 8:00. Earlier we can attend the SCCA event in Drumwright as a group or partial group, its cheaper than karts and you get to see what your BIMMER can do! Even if you don't want to run your car you can come out and watch for free. You can even get rides with others. The best trip I ever took through the cones was with Vern at Stroud, that was a blast!!!
Below is a copy of the list from that last post for the Nov meet.
Baxter's is not a fancy schmancy place but it is nice. They have every thing from burgers to nice steak and pasta dishes, something for everyone.
If anyone else can make it now please chime in so I can get you on the list. This will let me know how many to plan for at dinner, thanks...
Official dinner list for November 12:
Total = 28
Curt + Spring
Swiss + 1
Dblmike + 3
Brandon and Heather
Martialartsblack + 1
Kevin + 4
Thong Boy + 1
Tim + 1
E + 1
Antwon and Tegan
Larry + Lisa + Mini Mofo

mrdezyne 11-08-2005, 03:30 PM SCCA EVENT THE DAY OF THE 19th!!!!!!
(Email from my buddy at work) This would be a great way to start the day on the 19th before the dinner! Sign up is early in the morning 8:00 am, so we would be done in plenty of time to make an 8:00 pm dinner....
Just wanted to remind you all about the autocross events coming up on the 19th, 20th and 27th. I will be going to the one on the 19th for sure to see how the S2000 handles, and I might be going the other two dates as well. For the 19th event, Eric said he was going to try to make it with his new 350Z, Curt might race the Bimmer again, Victor was contemplating racing his Celica and Nick might race the Oldsmobile. If you want to race bring your $20 entry fee and your car. That is it. Any car can race and they race all kinds of cars. Your $20 gets you four laps, or for $12 more you can enter a second class and run eight laps.
The format is one car on the track at a time racing against the clock, so you can go as fast or slow as you want. The course, which will resemble a road course, not an oval, will be marked with traffic cones and chalk. You get to walk the course before your laps but no pre-drives. The worst thing that can happen is you hit a cone marking the track or spin out. This is very safe racing, much safer than driving to work in Tulsa traffic!
It is free to watch if you just want to check it out, and if you want to get closer to the action you can ride with someone. Just about anyone will let you ride with them. My passenger seat is available for anyone, first come first serve. I would like to ride at least one lap with anyone from this group that goes, especially Eric!
The race is at the Central Tech truck driver training center in Drumright, OK. See the link below for directions. Since I live west of Tulsa we can meet at my house and head out from there (if it is on the way, I haven’t checked…I think it is). We will have to get an early start, registration starts at 8:00am and closes at 9:30 sharp. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up at my house.
I was going to leave this part out but I just can’t. Guys, this is really fun. You may not like racing as much as some other people, but I think you will enjoy this, especially if you race or ride in a car. It may be a little intimidating racing your car for the first time, but there is nothing to worry about, especially since Curt, Nick and I will be there and we have done this before. We can tell you exactly what to do to enter, where to park your car, etc. After you sign up, pay your money, get your car inspected (the inspection just makes sure your car is safe, not leaking fluids, dragging mufflers, etc.), you just get in line and race. There are two heats and it is customary to help with cones during the heat you are not racing, but that is not a requirement. I really hope some of you will attend, and I really hope most of you will want to race your car. A Ford Ranger truck raced once, so you can race anything!

A request for a karaoke machine has also been expressed. We have a private room so lets get MOFO crazy!
mrdezyne 11-09-2005, 04:29 PM There is a good chance this dinner will also act as a memorial service for the passing of the keys for my beloved 325. I am encouraging the prospective buyer to join us for dinner since he is flying in from PA to pick it up. Everyone give Rick a hearty MOFO welcome as he may well be the new owner and honorary MOFO for the day...... :buttrock

What should my fees run as a non-scca (yet) member? Looks like about $15-20 to race + $5 numbers?

Correct young padawan. $25 should cover you for the day of 4 runs, add another $12 to the mix and you can get another 4 runs in another class. You will be amazed at how your car handles and soon find out the only real limit is your driving ability..... Good place to learn your car inside and out...... :buttrock

Slight correction:
All drivers at the event are REQUIRED to sign up for a work assignment. That may or may not include shagging cones, but often does unless you're working registration, the timing trailer or waivers. Missing your work assignment is a MAJOR faux pas and will definitely result in your points for the event being thrown out and repeated offenders will not be invited back.
In other words, if you can't stay to work for an event that you're driving in, don't show up at all. It leaves the workers in the other heat shorthanded which usually results in the event running longer because they don't have as many people to work as they had counted on.
That's just part and parcel of a volunteer run event.
WeiBCoupeE36 11-16-2005, 02:05 PM ok....bad news.....heather and i wont be making it.....turns out my sister from japan is coming in that night at the airport and they are gonna need me there to help transport her, her husband and 3 kids + luggage......: (

Like paying for your dinner and still having to wash the dishes.. oh well..
simracer 11-16-2005, 05:48 PM Like paying for your dinner and still having to wash the dishes.. oh well..
Yes, you could say that. :)
But I prefer to look at it as saving money on entry fees over having to pay someone else to put on a turnkey event on for you.
Or, to complete your analogy, that would be like paying $10 for prime rib and making it at home versus paying $20 at Outback where prep and cleanup are done for you.
As for what may have been intended in the earlier post, it is customary for folks to stay around after the event to clean up the equipment/cones, but nothing bad will happen if you don't. And that's the beauty of the Saturday event because I don't think there will be much cleanup because of the event following the next day.
