View Full Version : 02 330ci on ebay for 7900 buy it now?!!!?
rob0589 11-04-2005, 07:50 PM so i was ebay and saw this car...I think its a scam so i emailed the guy to see what the deal is, so he emailed me back and wrote this.....
Hello,
My name is William Jonesby and I am the owner of the 2002 BMW 330CI 5spd, Sport M Pkg you
expressed interest on eBay. At this time I have removed the auction because I have
received many offers from people asking me for a trade with their car and money or simply
questions from people offering me less that the buy it now price. Attached are a few
pictures so you know what I am selling. If you need the complete description or more
pictures just let me know.
Final price is US $7,900 as I said on eBay. The car will be sold only if you meet the buy
it now of $7,900. I will not lower this buy it now price under any circumstance even if
you come to pick up the car yourself. The registration papers are all ok and it has US
clear title. It has all the US specs and passes all the emission tests. It can be
registered without problems in any state.
I have a price that might sound low because I am away from the country with my job and I
will not be able to sell the car in person. So I am ok with a lower price than have the
car sitting for nothing in the garage till I return. My only request is that we complete
the deal with eBay supervision. If we reach a deal I will request eBay to assign an agent
to be the third party in our sale.
I work by the principle that I don’t touch your money until you receive and inspect the
goods. I hope that you are ok to make the deal by eBay since this way is the only way
that I can move forward.
Since I saw a strong interest from you and because I need the money I have contacted eBay
and asked them to send you the invoice hoping that I can speed things up a bit. Please
wait for the eBay invoice and contact me after you read it with your questions.
I hope that all this info was enough to start your interest in buying my car and I look
for your emails with questions that you might have.
My best regards
Will
What do you guys think? Scam or no scam?

rob0589 11-04-2005, 10:47 PM im going to...Once i heard the out of country thing i knew it was a scam
rcmcfe 11-05-2005, 11:04 AM I think i had the same conversation with this guy about a month ago. post a pic. of the car & I'll be able to tell you for sure...
rob0589 11-05-2005, 01:18 PM he emailed me back and said....
Hello,
As I promised here you will find the description of the car. You have the pictures from
the previous email.
So it’s a 2002 model with only 49,000 miles on board. This car is a jam with a rare Steel
Blue Metallic exterior color (BMW-Stahlgrau Metallic) and black leather interior. Plus
it is a coupe and it is a 5 speed manual, which makes this car a very hard combination to
find. Oil changes were made at 5000 miles instead of 15,500 suggested by BMW using
Castrol Synthetic oil. This Car has all the options you need. Among many of them such
options as: Sport Package, 4 wheels ABS Brakes, Traction Control, Dynamic Stability, 2
Front Airbags, 2 Side Airbags, Digital Climate Control, Sun Roof, Aluminum Interior Trim,
Sport ///M Wheels (Front:225/45-17, Rear:245/40/17), 8 Way Adjustable, Power, Sport Seats
(with 3 memory settings), It even has such option as heated windshield nozzles sprinklers
in case water freezes. The car also has Heated Door Locks and Heated Mirrors for your
convenience as well. Averaging about 27 miles per gallon. The engine in this car is 3.0L
straight six with 4 valves per cylinder.
NON SMOKER CAR AND THE INTERIOR IS ABSOLUTELY SUPERB.
Now I have talked with the people at the eBay office here and there are two ways we can
complete this. Since I am away from the country as I told you previously you are required
to make a deposit payment to an agent that eBay will assign for this sale.
Then either you come to my place to inspect the car and pay the balance on the spot (I
will fly back there for you) or you let me ship the car to your place (this way the
shipping cost is paid by me included in the buy it now of $7,900). It’s up to you to
decide but please note that I will not move forward unless you make the deposit as you
will be instructed by eBay in the invoice.
You should receive the invoice from eBay today so please wait for it and then get back to
me with all your questions.
If you have other questions please let me know. I want to give you all the info so we can
complete the sale asap. I really need this money to arrange my house here.
Thank you,
Will

mihalis 11-05-2005, 04:39 PM sounds way too good to be true. He can walk into a dealer and they would give him at a total rip off price $15K.
prodjsxb 11-05-2005, 05:26 PM something tells me the 3rd party agent will be an "escrow" service.
rob0589 11-05-2005, 06:21 PM prob i know its a scam
330Maniac 11-05-2005, 07:50 PM Scary...I went thru several of these scams on autotrader before I got my 02 330. Thing to watch out for is the ebay invoice he's talking about might look exactly like ebay but it isnt. Contact ebay and ask them if they have this 3rd party agent he's talking about and dont go off of any ebay links he sends you cuz they will link you to bogus scam ebay sites. I got almost duplicate reponses from several guys when i was looking for my car. Its so funny how they stick to the same story. I recently had a friend get scammed out of 2k this way and trying to get it back isnt easy. The old rule holds true...unless you can see it for yourself, then its too good to be true.
rob0589 11-06-2005, 10:23 AM and this it the email from the suppose ebay ahaha
