I have a ticking sound from the engine everytime the engine is cold...( car is garaged ) anyway..for about 1 - 2 seconds I hear a very fast tic tic tic and then it goes away...changed oil to 5-40w hopping the ticking woudl go away but...its still there....problably nothing....just annoying...any ideas...car has 47K...

sounds normal - most likely your vanos - I wouldn't worry too much about it

little confused on the answers...one is pretty bad and the other one is not too bad....which one is it ???

My engine has done that since I got it, which was about 100k ago. I wouldn't sweat it. Mine does it on startup and when it's really hot out, I've tried everything, I just accept it now :)
