How do you do it? Just bought a '71 2002, and I was just curious if there is really anything you can do to wake these things up. Preferably within reason, financially.

Preferably within reason, financially. ridr4lif 10-25-2005, 01:03 PM How much do you want to spend? Good place to start would be add a larger carb, a lot of people like the Weber 38/38. If you want to spend a little more, go with a cam and pistons. Echo 10-25-2005, 02:27 PM Webber side drafts, cam, pistons, and lots of head work. As Ridr4lif already said, its all dependent on how much money you are willing to throw around. 74tii 10-25-2005, 02:36 PM just adding a 32/36 would help some ya? Is your 76 running? If not grab the carb and intake off that and you'll get a little extra snort for nothing FAST5 10-25-2005, 07:40 PM I would be comfortable spending around $2000, but I'm kind of worried about the integrity of the engine. It already has a K&N filter and I beleive a Weber, plus the turbo exhaust manifold. Oh, and my '76 is running. What exactly can I take off of it to make the '71 quicker? Thanks. Some people have told me you can get these things to run with an E36 M3 w/o doing an engine swap. It is possible? Echo 10-25-2005, 07:49 PM Some people have told me you can get these things to run with an E36 M3 w/o doing an engine swap. It is possible? Yeah but that will require gutting the car and building one hot motor... Would prolly cost quite a bit more than 2k in parts alone... ridr4lif 10-25-2005, 07:49 PM Check out sites like: bmw2002.com topendperformance.com kormanfastbmw.com they all have a ton of parts for 02's. FAST5 10-25-2005, 08:15 PM Sweet. Thanks guys. |
