Fine dining? Chain? Mom and pop? Right there at speedway or are you willing to explore? I live just a couple of minutes from the track so I am familiar with that end of town.

leaning toward fine dining. no chains. and i'm willing to explore around charlotte as long as it's relatively easy to get to being that i've never been to the city. thanks.

My running favorite is McIntosh's on South Blvd. Is the show at the new arena downtown or at the track like it was before? McIntoshes has a fried lobster tail appetiser that is my wife's favorite. Their rare Filet you do not need a knife for and we usually share a garlic mashed potato side that is the best I have had anywhere. The wine menu is extensive. It is easy to get to and from and wouldn't be too far off your route if the show is at the track. If it is downtown the resturaunt is right there. You also have a Sullivans just up the road and The Capital Grille right smack dab downtown. All are well thought of but I would reccommend McIntosh's. My wife and I have been going there for 8 years. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Well, i used to be a valet here in town so i could name about 30 places.
Southpark area has great food, Nobles (where i worked for a very long time) is great high end food. Usually a bunch of rich ass people there. The Palm is the same way and its across the street. Zebra is also good and all three are withing 3 miles of each other.

Melting pot is always nice... if you like romantic. Go to the one on kings drive. Its much nicer than the one in university. There are tons of chains around here but i know you said you dont want that. Capital Grill is very good and its in downtown.:cool Mimosa is also great food. Downtown also has a bunch of great places...
ok sorry for the bumbled answer but i hope it helps.
