Hey Guys,

I have a Sirius Starbase tuner that i'm going to add to my E36. The plan is to do a nice mount in the sunglass tray. Problem is the thing lights up blue! A stereo/electronic buddy of mine said it's impossible to change the illumination on this thing. I MUST make it amber and I know some of you guys have done it to headunits. Here is a pic of what I have. Does anyone know how, or who I can get to do this? I'd be much obliged

Have you opened it to see what type of lighting it is? It may not be LED's, it might be blue LEDs, it might be clear LEDs into a blue lens. open it up and see what it looks like, you can probably buy the required lighting at Radio Shack.

It's possible, but it has to be taken apart to see how to do it.

It looks like this thread has been dead for a while, but I'm very curious if anyone has successfully completed this conversion??

I'd like to do the same, but like the original poster, I'd like to hear that someone else has succeeded before I hack up my display unit.

Thanx

It all depends on how the screen is lit up. I had two leds to one side of my screen, painted them amber, turned out very good.
