With all this rain and slippery roads, I could not spin the tires on my Touring no matter what I did! :redspot

Agreed, traction control is awesome...I used it a few times yesterday when the track was wet at yesterday's Test N Tune. On one run when the track was drying I felt adventureous and turned off the ASC...a little too much throttle in the second slalom and I went agricultural, did a big ol' 360 in the dirt and had coral dust flying in the window when I was sideways...no damage, but I scared the sh*t out of a corner worker...

BM... go too fast into a corner and yank the e-brake. DCS or not, you will spin. :evil2
Seriously, the traction contol is good in the rain, prolly great in snow, but I find it too intrusive for daily driving.
First time I experienced DCS, I was test driving my 99. Merging onto a major road I gave it enough throttle to break lose the rears. The DCS came into play just before I was lifting. Weird feeling.

My DSC & ABS light seems to be staying on quite frequently when it rains like it did this past Saturday. BME says that that happens often when it rains like that to BMW's. What would cause that? Dirty sensors?.

Yeah it's pretty good until you're stopped at an intersection (for approx 2 min no gap) and suddenly there is a gap in traffic! I can get into it but I'm going to have to be quick. Turns out there's just a bit of gravel at the intersection tire slips once and the computer jumps in and goes no no no Mr. Racer, and cuts power! :eyecrazy Mean while the cars are still bearing down on me and I can't get out of my own way. :mad My apologizes for the rant. Over all the T/C can be a good thing sometimes. :confused :)

Well thank God BMW still gives us the option to turn it off when we want to, as opposed to most of the other makes out there (mercedes and lexus come to mind).

Amazingly enough, my new tires helped ditch DSC for the most part, unless I'm being stupid. Manhole covers still kick it in though. :)

:lol :lol :lol
Been there done that, ask Owen...he he he!
And so did Curtis Lee with my roady, and it was on a dry track!

However, with the DSC on it does take control of the car, unless you need to come to a sudden stop and you stand on the brake....ask JP what he seen in his rearview mirror during last years island drive! The car would slow down, but not quick enough. I thought maybe that was due to the abs, but I think the dsc will come into play as well, because when it's off I don't get that affect from the abs.

That Touring of mine is so heavy and underpowered it couldn't even spin the tires in the rain. :D

My traction control doesn't seem to work very well. Maybe I need to put a new chip in the computer. :embarrasm

Well since I never drove your Touring, I didn't want to say it didn't have enough power, but now I know. It must be a lot like my 318.
