The chassis has approximately 58,000 miles on it. The European M3 motor was installed a few years back and had 11,000 street miles at the time.
The previous (and original owner) did three BMW-CCA club races with that
motor prior to my brother and I buying it from him. He raced in C-Mod.
We use it for driving schools and have not raced it. I'm guessing the
motor has under 15,000 miles on it currently. The motor is completely
stock making it very reliable. Others have modified them to over 400HP.
In stock form it hangs with GT3's, Z06's, Cobra R's and Vipers on the
straights at Road America.
Used zero oil after a full season of co-driving. All records from
day one included with the car. Car and trailer always stored indoors.
The car runs very strong, needs nothing and has everything:

3.2L European M3 Motor (approx 330HP)
European stainless headers
Full custom cage
4 Piston Brembo front brakes
Twin piston Porsche 996 C2 rear calipers
Full Halon fire suppression system
(8) 18x9 SSR Competition Wheels w/ R-compound tires
(4) 18x9 BBS wheels with rain tires
Lightweight flywheel
Lexan side windows (fronts removable / rears fixed)
Fan delete
Full Ground Control coil over suspension (fully adjustable height,
compression, rebound and sways)
Upgraded suspension bits including TC Kline monoballs, rear arms etc.
Racing transmission mount
UUC Strut Barbarian ($500 billet strut bar w/ no hinges which is not
available anymore)
Rear towers supported by cage
Autothority Flowtech intake
Headlight air intake panel
Welded in suspension reinforcements eliminating any weak areas
3.64 Blanton rear differential
Alpina Finned differential cover w/ extra capacity
Oil Cooler
Brake ducting with carbon fiber inlets
Recaro race seats
Custom diamond plate flooring
Short Shift kit
Momo steering wheel
Electrical cutoff switch
Lightweight battery with custom mount
Schroth 3" 5 point harnesses
Twin fuel pumps (eliminates fuel starvation on RH turns)
BMW OEM lightweight front splitter ($1,300)
Custom OEM lightweight rear wing with removable extensions
(this is a special sedan version of which approx. 5 exist $1,600)
Hot Lap timer
AMB Transponder
Full gage package (oil temp, pressure and water temp)
Video camera mount
Custom graphics
Two complete exhausts (one is 3" dia straight thru and quite loud)
Corner balanced and aligned in August
Approx 330HP and under 2,600LBS

Car is in excellent condition with all original panels/vin's and no
paintwork. Never been in the snow/salt.

Trailer:
Tandem axle Texas Roll back trailer
Electric trailer brakes
Custom mount electric winch w/ deep cycle battery
Custom welded locking tire rack
Locking storage compartments
Flush under carriage lighting (for loading at night)
(4) new tires

The trailer is quite slick. There are no ramps. You pull 3 pins (one
between each pair of axles and one on the tongue) and hold the manual
control on the trailer brakes. Back the tow vehicle up and the trailer
bed slides off the axle frame and tilts. Back car off. Hold manual
trailer brake switch and drive tow vehicle forward to pull trailer bed
back on to axle frame.
The modifications made to the trailer alone (tire rack, lights, winch
etc.) came to $2,200.

Previous owner had over $100,000 invested in this car. Asking $39,000 for car, trailer and all wheels etc.

We also have the tow vehicle for sale:

1999 Ford E150 Conversion van complete with 16" fold up flat screen
TV, DVD and Alpine 6 speaker stereo with subs and 3 amplifiers. The van
has a Triton V8 with transmission cooler added for towing duty and makes
a great pit vehicle and highway entertainment machine. It has 75,000
highway miles and is available for $11k. Resale on conversion vans is
terrible as this listed for approximately $38k new without audio/video
system!

Did that race car belong to Jeff Wagner before you purchased it? Looks very familiar.. If it was, it is very fast as I saw it race back in 03 at Tremblant. Bump for a great looking car and great trailer. We have the same kind and its awesome for loading and offloading.

Yes, we bought it from Mr. Wagner a couple years ago. I believe he won that race at Tremblant.

Very cool. The car was fast and well maintained/prepared. Goodluck with the sale. You should post it on www.bmwccaclubracing.com under the cars for sale section. Should get more serious interest there.

Does the cage extend to the front shock towers? Is it welded to the A or B Pillars?

Thanks,

I know that car pretty well.

Its a great car.

I know where the cage was built, it was built by a GREAT welder with a lot of experience. This guy does full out dragsters in chrome moly. His welds are incredible. (also, not cheap). I don't think the cage is CM however, I think its regular steel. But, I'm sure its strong as hell.

It was maintained primarily at Patrick BMW in Shaumburg by Al Valenzo, and I have worked with him for years. He knows these engines, and maintained that one well.

With the trailer tossed in, this is a steal. If I were married, I'd buy it for my wife to race too.

Alex Lipowich (bump for a great deal)

Thanks,

It does not extend to the front towers.
Forgive me if I sound ignorant as I'm not a cage expert, but the cage runs along A and B pillars, but to my knowledge it's not attached to them. Can't recall seeing a cage that is attached to them, so maybe I'm misreading your question. It does have the NASCAR bars that extend into the door cavities.

Is this car street legal?

98 silber sedan
11-06-2005, 12:05 AM
Is this car street legal?

Technically; yes. I drove it on the street last year to bed brake pads, get gas and heat cycle tires. You would eat tires with all the camber and there's always the issue of roll cages and no helmet. This year it's insured thru American Collectors which gives no liability coverage on the street, so no more bedding / heat cycling.

Thanks for your interest Ed and good luck in your search. I've received the deposit on the car and will certainly post if the deal falls thru.
He's buying just the car, so if anyone is interested, the trailer, 18" BBS RK's with new 245-35-18 Goodyear Eagle F1GS-D3's (winner in Car & Drivers recent perf. tire comparo) and the tow vehicle are still available.
