Hi there

My Bosch headlight covers are slightly pitted from general flying stuff :)

What is the best way to make these nice and smooth and clear again??

I have already cleaned up the insides..

Thanks in advance

that link is for cleaning the internals.

I want to clean/smooth the outside glass cover.

Do you mean plastic, not glass?

I use Meguiar's Plastic Cleaner and Plastic Polish on the Porter Cable polisher.

Some people have reported good results with metal polish on a cloth by hand.

Do you mean plastic, not glass?.

He means glass. He has the Bosch European headlights that have glass covers- not the US-spec which are plastic.

Mine are pitted too, but I am going to just buy new lenses and some Stongard. Seems to work well for everyone.

Yep, if its glass, it's replacement time.

How much would replacement lenses cost?

What is Stongard??

Stongard is a protective film to protect them from getting pitted again after you replace them. From what I hear it's very good stuff.

You cant really take out the pitting in the glass lense since that would mean you have to take a whole layer of glass off your headlights, very hard to do. Best solution is just get stoneguard and hope that the stoneguard will fill in the small indents, but if they're too big it might not work. Best solution would to just get new lenses.

Good timing.

I am taking mine to an auto body place (whom I trust). They told me that they'd hit the glass with some 1000 grit sand paper, smooth things out, then polish 'em back up. NO sweat they said.
I was going to take them apart and take them to a glass place to get them polished out, but this way I will not have to remove them from the car.

Stoneguard is in the mail. I was told to do this right away. Should've listened.
