Has anyone expierenced anything similiar. It is like 2 metal rods (not in the engine) klanking against eachother, and its getting louder. I am pretty sure my rear shoes could be changed but this sound is coming fromunder the hood near the pedals I think. Any help greatly appreciated.

Had an a/c compressor come loose once on my '02, and it would swing and bang up against the swaybar when I braked. Took a while to figure that one out.

front brakes are cool for sure im on top of that but maybe it has something to do with the shoes in the back.I can feel it in the pedal though, and is definetly coming from that area.

Your sure the caliper bolts are tight? I had mine torqued down well, and after only a month or two, one fell out.....
I didn't know until during an autocross. I could hear a little thump at first whenever I hit the brakes, but everything looked OK. Then the caliper started swinging back and grinding against the wheel every time I hit the brakes.
I got a new bolt and put loc-tite on it....
