View Full Version : '91 Prelude seats for my 2002?
After reading the FAQ on seat replacement in bmw2002faq.com , I started searching the Denver area for alternatives to front seat replacements. I have located a pair of front seats from a '91 Honda Prelude. In the FAQ it is mentioned that with a small modification to the mounting holes, like those from an Intergra ('89 - '93), Prelude seats can be installed.
Does anyone know what years for the Prelude this would work for?
Thanks!!
Ohtwo 10-17-2005, 04:46 PM Sorry, I dont know anything about prelude seats, but I suggest you measure them yourself, as well as having a look at the rails.
I'm using Integra seats, and it isn't as easy as the FAQ makes it seem. They also sit too high if your pretty tall.
CRX seats should work. I want to have a look at the seats in a early 90s eclipse or talon.
742002 10-17-2005, 04:49 PM I have CRX seats in my 2002 that i found in a junk yard for 80 bucks. They are not that hard to install, and dont sit too high. i am 6'2" and i still have some head room. I would think preludes would be fine.

If you can remember to take a measurement from the lower cushion to the headliner, it would be very helpful to me.
Thanks

They require alot of modification.
trucidatio 10-18-2005, 01:59 AM Really..... damn... cause some modification is alright with me and understandable....
any idea of what all it would involve?
Ohtwo 10-18-2005, 02:03 AM Not sure but I know they sit too high, and to get them low enough you need to weld new brackets to the floor.
e30 Sport Seats:
E30 sports seats are readily available, and are very comfortable. They can be easily adapted to fit in the '02, but one drawback is that they sit very high. The images below are from my set-up, so this is first-hand feedback. (I have since replaced them with an aftermarket set; see below.) They weigh about 45lbs per side.- BMW2002 seating guide

TTe30m3 10-18-2005, 02:17 AM i put some e34 525i seats in my 02 a couple of weeks ago. it wasn't easy, but very doable. they are acutally heated and powered. i love them. i can write up some details on the install if anyone is interested. oh, i got the rears to fit too. and i got them all for $75!

Ohtwo 10-18-2005, 03:08 AM Freeplay, how did you mount the seats to the car? Are they bolted to the floor?
2002forlife 10-18-2005, 03:53 AM Freeplay is that a short shift in there?
70roundtail02 10-18-2005, 02:16 PM I have recaros out of a 320 I believe very comfortable and don't sit too high only problem is that if you are wider they can be uncomfortable according to my buddies.
i3element 10-18-2005, 09:39 PM Not to draw away attention from the bmw seats, I had a 94' Prelude Si and the seats were super comfortable and held side to side very well. I actually like them more than the E30is seats that I had. Also the seats in the prelude site really low in the prelude, i dont know about how high the site in a 2002 though, sorry.
TTe30m3 10-18-2005, 11:46 PM yes, they are bolted to the floor. the inside of the seats rest on the lower part of the factory rail on the tranny tunnel (does that make sense?), and the outer parts by the door sills are.....
ah, screw it, i am going to take pics. too hard to explain
