nothing certain, but the guardrail fronting the off-camber was recently re-designed. :(

No official word, yet. Scuttlebutt is that politicians aren't happy with the track operator. Despite that, they are still trying to get the lease extended.

Wonder how happy they will be when the Friday night drags take to the streets...

so this is the only legal outlet for racing on oahu? Why would they close it.. It will just open up the door for streetracing on H1 for those people without any self control.

Its not a state or city run facility, so whether it stays open or not is not up to us, but the owner and the market. I am surprised its been there for as long as it has frankly.

That's because you don't understand the business or the politics behind it. Most racing facilities in the US are privately owned.

you talking to me or the previous poster? I think my post says quite clearly its a privately owned facility.

I also understand that the owners don't seem to me to be very business minded, which is why I said I am surprised it lasted so long IMO.

So what is going on behind the scenes here?

Is anyone with the SCCA trying to secure a lot for further competition? Autocross doesn't need a road course at all, as most regions just use parking lots. It's tough finding a big enough lot that will allow it, but there's plenty out there. We just need a big factory or something with a large parking lot, but isn't open on the weekends.

I think Curtis Lee is trying to get back to the stadium...he's a long time hardcore autoxxer and will pull out all the stops in finding an alternate place to race...

aloha stadium? I'd think the swap meet and football games would be tough competition. :shifty

But good to know somebody like him is trying... I gotta decide whether I might wanna stay here another year or not.
