I have 4 miglia 1000 18x9 wheels with 245x40x18 tires mounted. I tried to put them on a 1996 328is and they fit the back but they rub on the front shocks. Is there any way to make this setup work? The suspension is all stock. I dont know about the offset or anything else, I just took off the stock 16's and tried to put them on. Thanks for any help

O well, guess I will just stick 25mm spacers on the front and see what happens

A couple of things:

1) DO NOT put a 25mm spacer up front. That is WAY too much. 5-7mm should be plenty.

2) You are much more likely to rub with those tires. They should be a 245/35-18.

These are the wheels, 18x9, et45, tires I have on there are 245/40/18. They fit fine on the back, but on the front they are about 1 mm below the top part of the front strut , and slightly rubbing the side of the strut. I can bolt them on there and spin them, but they rub that strut on the side just barely. Maybe I will just forget the spacers and put 225/35/18 tires on ? I did a price check on 235/35/18 tires and those are like over $200 a piece, not worth it in my opinion, Im a cheap bastard, I got all 4 wheels for only $250. 225/35/18 tires would give me 1.52" lower, and put the tire 20mm away from that strut ( according the DML wheel calculator ) What to do, what to do

10 or 12mm spacer will work for you and 245/40 is definately too tall. You cant just forget the spacer and run narrow tires upfront, the wheel will still hit the strut body!

225/35-18 is too short. You need a 225/40-18. That is going to be pretty stretched on a 9" width though. It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you came in to my shop, I don't even know if they would sell you that size for those wheels because they are so much narrower. Try a 235/35-18. That is significantly shorter, but is a better suited size for your wheels.

Switching to a properly sized tire may very well make a big enough difference. You may consider replacing the rears to the same size while your at it (provided you have the cash for it). 245/40-18 really is much too tall and will definitely affect your speedometer calibration. (I.e. you will be going slightly faster than your speedometer says you are.)

Thanks for all your inputs. I decided to just try 20mm spacers up front. Its just barely rubbing on the side and with it 20mm farther out, with the tire I have on the wheel, it will give it over 1 inch from the top of the strut, and almost 1 inch from the side of the strut. The reason I know is because I made a 20mm wheel spacer out of hardwood, then bolted it on to check all the clearances. And the fenders, I gotta baseball bat to fix that
