View Full Version : 323i Supersprint exhaust
al@bmp 10-11-2005, 01:04 PM Supersprint still has the tooling for the 323i e21 exhaust they have everything from headers to tail pipes. If I would get 10 people commited I will have them fire up a production run of 15 pieces. This may be the last chance for these since at some point they will notify me that the tooling has been destroyed. The product is the highest quality, so chanced are this will be the last exhaust you will ever need to buy.
headers 022 780 504 $836.05, Resonator 022 780 501 $267.56, muffler 022 780 502 right $360.63, 780 503 left $360.63
All pre production commitments get 15% off of these prices!
jjgbmw323 10-11-2005, 01:22 PM I was interested in this system an called you guys a while ago. I was told its NLA.
Questions: 1) Are the headers and center resonator and mufflers Stainless?
2) Do the rear muffflers "flow Freer" than ANSA ones?
3) Will a later M20 90 stroker engine work with the 323i headers.
4) Overall how is the system different from Borla or Ansa or Racing Dynamics or others?
thanks - if you get the other guys I may be interested in a system.
But is super expensive compared with the Ansa system I currently have.
OT: Can you make or source ALPINA B6 engine mounts? Everyone is looking for them but they are NLA?
later,
J
bLuE e21 323i 10-11-2005, 11:38 PM I am also interested but would like to know the answers to jj's questions.

The system can be built again, just need a few systems pre sold. I just don't want to leave them in my will to my son if they don't sell. :)
The whole system is mild steel. Headers are chrome plated, and rest of system is aluminized steel then powder coated. The steel is 2.5mm think. I have never had a rust through. The internals are stainless resonated tubes, and all seams are welded. Ansa is crimped rolled seams (like a coffee can is built) this is cheapers but promotes moisture traps and rust through. The quality is 10 far superior to Ansa. I'm not certain the other manufaturers you mention make a system for the 323i, unless you do a home built with universal parts. This system is designed for this car using all your factory hangers. These are all free flow resonated design.
B6 engine mounts, is that M30 engine block?

Ok. I am interested. I think if you made a limited run this system, it would sell. Will the e21 headers work on my 90 325 2.8 stroker?
Yes Racing Dynamics made a header for the e30 325i and it was a radical design that supposably added 10 HP to the performance of the car.
It was stainless steel. Owners of e21 323i have swaped engines to late model m20s and sometimes use either the e21 headers or header from an e30.
Yes, the B6 engine mounts are for the m30 block and are NLA as well. Nic used them in his M42 transplant as they were more durable than stock mounts. I wanted to use something more durable than my stock 323i mounts as my engine is going to put out signficantly much more HP.
Can you get the B6 mounts, as I am sure M30 transplant guys are looking for them, and so are those who have high perfromance m20s.
thanks
Joe
al@bmp 10-12-2005, 10:38 PM Are you wanting the brackets off the block or the actual. rubber/ or cushion mounts. I believe I may still have some brackets to block from the m30 but designed for thr 323i subframe, not for the 320i sub frame. Racing Dynamic exhaust in those days were maunufactured by Supersprint. FYI Racing Dynamic never built exhaust systems, they drove the car to Superspint and had it designed and built for them. Then Supersprint assigned them special exhaust tips.
I'm not certain if the 2.9 is too much volume for the 323i system. I can find out. It may be your only choice, it will do much better than a factory system.

Here are some images of the Supersprint components for the BMW 323i

If those will work on my 90 325i 2.8/3.0 stroker I am interested.
Yes Al I am looking for the actual B6 rubber mounts to be reproduced. Nic used them in his M42 transplant in his 320i, and I am looking for something thats stronger than OEM 323i mounts to hold my new M20 stroker in my 323i. 325i ones dont work.
thanks
J
