New wheels/tires are heavier. The reason your 235 is rubbing is that the offset isnt ideal.

its probably the rims... you jumped from 15 to 17. not the widith would affect it. maybe the profile.. from 60 to 45 is pretty thin, but I dont know what kind of aftermarket rims you put on along with those new tires???

This is the horrible let down everyone has when they go from 15" to 17"+. First, you're increasing the rotational weight of the wheel. Second, you're actually moving the weight further from the hub, which causes the weight to have increased leaverage which means it will be more resistant to changes in speed (ie acceleration, braking). Even if the new wheels weighed exactly as much as the old wheels, this effect of moving the weight out would be noticable. Get some Koseis, SSRs, (just something really light), or go back to the stocks if it bothers you too much.

aren't snow tires a lot heavier than regular tires??? i thought they were. that could explain the rotational mass........
