E36 M3 vs Suburu WRX STI [Archive] - Bimmerforums

Pulled up to a stop light next to a WRX STI and the kid in the car flipped me off!! Little did he know how much whoop ass was hiding in the stealthy E36! The light turned green and we both punched it. He gained 1/2 up to 30 MPH and then I caught him and was gaining as we came into the twisties. I felt her start to drift as I heel and toed through the S turns. The WRX just could not keep up! The best part was as we pulled up to a stop sign - he refused to look at me!

Then you act like a baller "what system should I put in my customer's new M5" blah blah blah. Then you make outrageous claims about how great the E36 M3 is and how wonderful of a driver you are. So.. you some how caught an sti when you were probably in second gear and he was in the meat of his powerbad???

sti's can pull stock e55 amg's from a dig and the e55's dont catch up until about 50 or 60, so i find it hard to believe that you car "pulled" an sti. take a look at those stats at the top of the page.

btw, the handling thing is BS. your car might have been the best, or whatever C and D called it, back in 97, but the sti handles almost as well as an evo. my evo is a scalpel in the twities so i am doubting that you handle better than an sti. unless he hit a tree or a rabbit or some other obstacle in the middle of the raod and decided to take a trip into the woods, i gaurantee u that the sti pulls u everytime.

i respect the e36 m3 for what it is, but the sti is newer and faster, besides maybe highways.

Hmmm nice thing about this forum no one believes everything they read. Which is a good thing, I like the grounded people around here! Maybe he did beat that Sti, or the driver. It does take a competent driver to make the most of any car and take it to the performance edge. So in this case I say good driving if it applies?

the day they open Battlegrounds here in atlanta I jump into a race (WRX Vs. STI) wrx had a lot done to it but the STI was at 15 to 19 PSI we kill the WRX going int o 2nd gear in 3rd gear I pull a car on the STI and got in front of him

Fact #1: I was o my race car (E36 325) It was Power to weight ratio VS. a lot of horses with a fully dress up car.

Last month I race on My S52 OBD1 M3 a STI with front mount IC boosting 18 PSI, Flash code for the Straight eshaust system. And this guy kill me from a stand. he got me 4 cars right when I went into 4th gear.

M3 Dyno at 230HP and 215 torque

STI Dyno at 300HP and I forgot the torque.

I'm sure about my numbers dunno abuot his but He got 70 hp more and got me for 4 cars

stock M3 dyno at 200hp good numbers 207hp

stock STI dyno at 260hp good numbers 268hp

I don't know what you have but A stock M3 can not take a Stock STI, on the straigh, on a road course yes, turbo lack.... under steering... weight transfer of the STI makes it easy to beat.

Anyway I raced a WRX and STI and I beat the STI for like more than a car. I was driving that day mt racecar because it was the gran opening of a auto shop here in atlanta.

My racecar weights no more than 2400Lbs so I was trying to say that it was a POWER TO WEIGHT ratio race.

on the other hand we have what we could say was a stock STI agains a What I think it was a no internals M3.

the STI and the M3 as a stock car makes:

M3 at the wheels from 200hp to 207hp

&

the STI at the wheels 260hp to 268hp

so the M3 would take the STI on a road coure because its issues like turbo lack.... under steering... weight transfer But on a straight line I'm sorry but it is hard to believe that the M3 will take a 250hp Plus all wheel drive car :confused

It could be possible but I think He beat a Driver not a car that happen realy often out there.

Example I raced before a lot on E46 M3 and sometimes I get them sometimes they get me, its a matter of who's driving the other car.

because obviously you haven't read his other threads. Also, he has a bone stock m3. A bone stock m3 won't touch an STI. But also he claims his bone stock M3 took a Ferrari 360 Modena on the straights and the twisties.

Trust me, we have no problem taking people on their word.

It's usually innocent until proven guilty around here...really moreso than any other forum I can think of. However the original poster has already been tried and convicted of habitual purgery by a jury of his peers. He could tell us the sky is blue and we'd ask for pics. :stickoutt

You obviously haven't driven an STi. Before I picked up my E, I had both an STi and an E36 M3. I switched off driving the two cars every day. The M3 has light mods and the STi was stock. The STi was better at everything than the M3 other than gas mileage...and comfort.
