On the back corner I had a 2 inch long deep scratch.
I have some Cosmos paint and Clearcoat from paintscratch.com, each in the 12oz spray cans. Exact color match.
I sprayed some cosmos into a lid, grabbed a few drips with a toothpick and filled in the scratch. The next day, scratch filled, but the color was a dull gray due to no clearcoat..
So eariler today I washed that area of the car, rubbed it down good. I managed to get the paint somewhat smooth in the scratch. Then I gave it one quick sweep of clearcoat. As soon as the clearcoat went on, the scratch looked perfectly repaired. Then I noticed the clearcoat kinda made a gel, looking like semi-dried superglue. In the light it shows up pretty good as a wax smear. So I washed the area and try to smooth the area as best as I could.
Other than the thick gooey looking clear coat, the scratch is perfectly filled and fixed. I was amazed.
I gave it a final wash, dried and used some turtle wax on it. When I wiped off the dried wax, it got all messed up. It looks like it got rubbed on by some very fine sand paper but there is no grooves. See the attached picture, I'm talking about the white markings. The big scratch was right between the 2 main white areas, I fixed the scratch perfect. I am just clueless what made those white spots and how to remove/fix them. Maybe a buffer? I don't have one..
I'm a noob on car painting, I came to the conclusion that it is a bad idea to learn on my good car.. :confused :eyecrazy
