View Full Version : Anyone Fully insure their daily drivers or beaters? MWhip 10-06-2005, 11:15 PM Just wanted to know how many fully insure their beaters? I just thought to myself why I am fully insuring this thing :(.... themadhatter 10-06-2005, 11:20 PM fully insured but the beater gets liability only. MWhip 10-06-2005, 11:24 PM fully insured but the beater gets liability only. Pretty sad that I didn't think of this a year earlier :( sKunkman 10-07-2005, 01:00 AM My beater (only car) has full coverage :P Preppy 10-07-2005, 01:36 AM word. i guess my parents don't love me enough for a second car :stickoutt Kim is full protected. It's like driving her down the road with a condom on her :D VRRHEUM 10-07-2005, 03:24 AM My daily driver - the m3 is only liability - does anyone know how much more it would cost to fully ensure it given clean record of a 19yo? -Scott John V 10-07-2005, 07:14 AM My daily driver - the m3 is only liability - does anyone know how much more it would cost to fully ensure it given clean record of a 19yo? -Scott A lot. And I'm really surprised you're taking the risk. The motorcycle is sort of my beater, and I have liability and comprehensive on it. No collision. Need some sort of protection for if it gets stolen. jterp 10-07-2005, 08:18 AM I keep full coverage on all of mine -- I keep high deductibles ($1000) though. It's not worth it to make a claim on the small stuff b/c they'll just jack your rates.. John V 10-07-2005, 08:29 AM I'd probably get some of the agreed value coverage for that Hemi 'Cuda Convertible of yours. Those cars are worth a lot these days. jterp 10-07-2005, 08:37 AM I'd probably get some of the agreed value coverage for that Hemi 'Cuda Convertible of yours. Those cars are worth a lot these days. It's not a hemi..:(... and I don't drive it enough to make it worth the cost of agreed value. 99% of the time it's in a locked garage at my parents' place. What kind of insurance are you going to get on the new 911 turbo you're getting? I bet that'll be a lot to insure! Mikey52 10-07-2005, 08:42 AM I have full coverage on mine, $500 deductable too. If I remember I had them calculate the difference between a $500 and $1000 deductable and it really wasnt that much. I guess Im not sure why I have full coverage on it, it was just easier that way. :embarrasm The ricecar on the other hand gets a $250 deductable. :cool John V 10-07-2005, 08:48 AM It's not a hemi..:(... Oh. :( Sorry man. I thought you had a cool car there for a second. What kind of insurance are you going to get on the new 911 turbo you're getting? I bet that'll be a lot to insure! Thanks for sweating me on the boards. The insurance isn't going to be too bad, my dad said he'd have no problem paying it. I've made my parents very proud over the years so I've EARNED it. :mad jterp 10-07-2005, 09:06 AM Oh. :( Sorry man. I thought you had a cool car there for a second. No.:(. Nothing near as cool as Mikey's yellow cobra. Thanks for sweating me on the boards. The insurance isn't going to be too bad, my dad said he'd have no problem paying it. I've made my parents very proud over the years so I've EARNED it. :mad I know, getting all those good grades was tough! You do deserve the brand new 911 turbo you are getting! ChosenGSR 10-07-2005, 09:27 AM My beater (only car) has full coverage :P :werd: ComBIRDable 10-07-2005, 09:33 PM I have full coverage on both cars. I look at it this way, when I have cash in hand to replace them, I'll drop the coverage. Until then, I carry full coverage. I checked the price difference between $250 and $500 deductibles, and it wasn't enough to make me change, so I have $250 deductible on both. Scott Preppy 10-07-2005, 10:06 PM I heard JohnV has his m3 (RICH!) insured for $80k!!!! Matt 10-07-2005, 10:37 PM The BMW doesn't run, my dad pays for full coverage on my (his) mazda, and I don't have insurance on the bike. I guess that averages out to having liability on my daily driver. :dunno Matt Charisma 10-07-2005, 10:53 PM I've got full coverage on my 98 323is. ebxgsxr 10-08-2005, 01:43 AM full on my M & my jeep (daily) my bike only has liability though. ill probably switch that to full when the riding season starts again. Phat Ham 10-08-2005, 03:12 AM I heard JohnV has his m3 (RICH!) insured for $80k!!!! shyt he's insuring a car he doesn't even have? John V 10-08-2005, 06:18 PM The BMW doesn't run, my dad pays for full coverage on my (his) mazda, and I don't have insurance on the bike. I guess that averages out to having liability on my daily driver. :dunno Matt You don't even have liability for the bike? You realize that's .. uh .. illegal? magnetic1 10-08-2005, 06:50 PM I just changed over to $0 deductible for comp. on my Audi and Denali. The price difference was only like $50/year for each. The Integra is covered in full also... being that its a high theft vehicle... if someone steals that junker, I wanna be able to claim some $. Comp. on it wasnt too much more anyways. The biggest reduction was un-registering the M3.... :alright Matt 10-08-2005, 07:42 PM You don't even have liability for the bike? You realize that's .. uh .. illegal? It lives in my dining room, so I'm not really worried about getting pulled over. I've only had it ~5 weeks so my car insurance would have covered it for that month if something shitty happened. Matt redrocket328 10-12-2005, 08:22 PM my babies fully covered, scotts M3 however isnt insured fully, thats mainly cause his dad hates insurance companies, and doesnt want to give them money.. and oh yea, his dad has enought money to buy him 10 more of them if he crashes. God forbid he does though.. M-Theory 10-12-2005, 09:08 PM I don't even think my M3 is fully insured. essejM3 10-12-2005, 09:20 PM I don't even think my M3 is fully insured. Mine is fully insured even though it sits in the garage w/o inspection or registration. Starting Friday it goes back on the road though:buttrock The Jeep and WRX are fully insured, however the POS Focus only has min coverage. Well, aren't you just something special. *bitter* themadhatter 10-13-2005, 02:37 AM :rofl same over here, full coverage on the e36 that has expired registration and insurance. Chris, I'm bringing a 13 & 17 mm wrench to strip your under-insured m3. :evil2 M-Theory 10-13-2005, 08:17 PM Chris, I'm bringing a 13 & 17 mm wrench to strip your under-insured m3. :evil2 Well, atleast I'll know which direction to point the authorities in...QFE BTW, I'm not bringing the M3.
