Hi all. I recently bought a 01 M3 (6/01 manuf) with 20k miles which has been misfiring in the mornings and a little beyond. The dealer is reloading the S/W now.

I don't particulalry understand how it could have started as soon as I bought it. The day after I got it the SES ligt came on and the MAF was replaced.

But the real question I am asking are there any cool new features that I might see as a result of the upgrade?

Depends on which version of software you had in there before... there are a bunch of different revisions...

Well the car was manuf 6/01 I think it was the original version.

I still don't know why this would show up on me and not the previous owner.
Myabe it is mad at me for moving it from Texas to Baltimore?

I think the guy had a reset tool.... Before he gave it to you, he probably reset everything so you didn't get a single fault so that the CEL never showed.... After you got it, well wats done is done...

Well the software load did not fix it. It idles fine but when cruising (constant gas) or accerating in the mornings it sputters. The tack also gets jumpy and jumps about 1k at at time when I am accelerrating. The car is back in at the dealer, but they want to wait overnight to try to reproduce it. They did reproduce it when I took it in on Monday though.

I've seen situations where dew can wreak havoc on the ignition system, but last night there was no dew. I am suspecting an intermittent sensor at this point which feeds bad data to the ECU. Or a coilpack.

It even does it when the redline has backed all the way down.

Does anyone have any kind of idea? This is mt first BMW and I have no idea hwo the computer werks.
