View Full Version : Continental tires
gsn794 10-02-2005, 07:42 PM that tire I wanted to get repaired? - seems that I trashed it, so now I have to buy a new one. :( I think I'll just stick with the same tires. It's going on an '02 325i with a slushbox and without the sport package, so there's not much point in going to higher performance rubber. Anyone know of a shop that sells Continentals?
thanks
The Beastmaster 10-02-2005, 07:44 PM Is it a Conti SportContact? If so, they don't make it anymore. It was replaced by the SportContact 2.
gsn794 10-02-2005, 07:50 PM actually it's a Contitouring Contact in 205/55R16. I think it has an H speed rating, and also has the name Ecoplus elsewhere on the tire.
IslandS62 10-02-2005, 07:56 PM On special at tire rack. $72. If you ordered today, Id bet it would be here by Wednesday.

I thought about that but worry about shipping, mounting and balancing. Is there actually someone on island that will install tires bought elsewhere? No local dealers have Continental?
The Beastmaster 10-02-2005, 08:00 PM Order tire then dropoff at Koko Marina 76 for install.
IslandS62 10-02-2005, 08:07 PM not that I know of offhand. Tirerack does so much shipping that their rates are actually quite good, and they will drop ship at the installer of your choice. figure $25-35 to mount and balance.
If you want a good deal on 4 new tires, Donn has been offering really good prices to us on Cooper tires, and I am dying to hear a review of them. He can be reached via Tire Source. I'm sure its in the book.
gsn794 10-02-2005, 08:38 PM thanks for the tips guys. I'm surprised that there aren't any local dealers though. Don't know if anyone likes Dunlops, but I spotted some at Sam's that seemed to be really good deals. Sport SPs in the $70 - 90 range for 205/55/16 and 225/50/16, but the treadwear warranty was -0- miles!
I finally remembered Tire Rack's recommended installers program too, so I feel a bit better about ordering from the mainland.
The Beastmaster 10-02-2005, 08:46 PM Sams tires come witha roadhazard warranty so if anything happens to your tires you are covered. They are also very lenient about pothole damage, too.
Here's their warranty info. Click (http://www.samsclub.com/eclub/main_std_template.jsp?CntId=tire-install&mt=a&n=0&BV_SessionID=_SC_1854317848.1128300439_CS_&BV_EngineID=cccladdflehejflcfkfcfkjdgoodfkg.0)

Eurosport on Coral street is one of TR's installers...
CobaltFire 10-02-2005, 11:07 PM EuroSport did mine, they are very nice and professional. They aren't horribly busy, either. I reccomend them.

I called them earlier today and they said that there are no retail outlets other than car dealers. I gave BMW of Honolulu a call, and they quoted me $112.70 + $25 to mount and balance. I figure that ordering from tirerack.com will save me less than $20 - $72 for the tire, $24.52 shipping and somewhere around $30 for mounting and balancing locally. I'll probably end up going to the dealer just for the convenience factor since they'll give me a ride to work if I drop off the car. Might be more worthwhile to order if I was doing all four tires though.
gsn794 10-05-2005, 05:31 AM I ended up going to the dealer and got away for $128 including mounting, balancing and tax. About the same as ordering from the tire rack and going to one of their local installers. One important point to remember for BMWCCA members - don't forget to ask for your club discount. BMW of Honolulu gives 15% off on parts, but you have to ask. Saved me $18 today. :D
