yeah well when you have over 4 weeks off a year I would rather sleep in for part of the day :)

It's way more fun to take all that time off at once ;)

<-- gets 4 weeks/year and is still somehow at -50 hours right now..

As a rule, it seems that limited slip diffs are helpful, too.

I chose the 9-12 slot myself. Was going to just going to make it a nice start to a four day weekend, but something reared its head at work today that might prevent me from going at all.

Begs the question, is the Elise closer to an RX-8 or a TonyKart?

Me too. I'll be seeing a lot of you I guess. :stickoutt

Anyone know what time we're supposed to get there for our time slot? i.e. do we have to get there early for any reason?

I doubt it....

And they said it will be on

rain or shine :).....

Rain should make it interesting.

One thing to remember in an Elise: Sideways in, fast out. :buttrock

if anyone goes early please post feedback whether it's worth driving from Balto in the rain and therefore in the corresponding 495 parking lot. Thanks!

42k lightweight car made to be driven hard and it is raining outside...hmm worth it for me..but then again I work a few exits up from FedEx :redspot

I can't imagine it NOT being worth it, having autocrossed an Elise once in the past. Depending on how you drive it, the car can be either very frustrating or very rewarding, but it's definitely unlike anything else.

Except for Vic, maybe. :stickoutt

2004 DC ProSolo day 1: shifterkart in a downpour. It actually was extremely fun! I wish I had pics of the tirespray.

I'd like to thank everyone for the warm ovation I recieved after having been the first this morning to loop the elise. :help

Why aren't there more sports cars like that? Made the MR2 feel puffy.

Great group running that event, too. Very laid back compared to some of the others I've attended.

So ... details. Did you have to work course? How many runs? How long was the course? Are they keeping track of times and ranking people?

Fill me in man, I need to decide if it's worth it to drive down.

Little torso-shaped course that you take a couple of multi-lap runs on. Two laps with instructor, 3 laps on touring model, then 3 laps with sport model (which I spun). Then a couple of hot laps with the instructor. The instructors impressed me as they were MUCH braver with the brakes and the gas than I was.

It was worth the trip for me having never driven an elise, but being really curious how it compared to an MR2.

Given that any waits were spent yucking it up with some of the usual WDCR suspects, I'm glad I went. YMMV.

No course work (it's small). And no timing :(

Hm. Was it pouring rain when you were there? I might bag it.

It was intermittent. Looks like it's raining steadier now. There's shelter, but it's cozy under the tent.

Not a lot of seat time, but I had enough fun to make the trip worthwhile. And the post-windfall Z06 is now a thing of my past. I like a car that's scaled to me :)

How many seconds was the course? 30? How quick did they get you in the car and driving?

How many seconds was the course? 30? How quick did they get you in the car and driving?Um... maybe 30? Probably less ? Course was more fun, imo, because you got 3 laps without stopping.

There's almost no sales job prior. We were in the cars 10-15 minutes in, I'd guess.

It was fun. I got there after the sales pitch. Even though it was dry when I got there, by the time we drove it was in very heavy rain.

Man. Those cars are a challenge to drive. But before too long a lot of the guys were sliding the cars around like real pros. I know I had a blast, and my instructor was giggling in the passenger's seat :stickoutt .

Who were the instructors? Anyone we know?

For fun, here's an in car vid of Junior Johnson's 3rd run on south course this year in the Pumpkin. This was probably the single best run I've ever seen in person. .6 ahead of ALL of the rest of Superstock.. it was enough to make me seriously consider getting an Elise. One day..
