Anybody replaced a front wheel bearing yet? I think mine might need replacing on the driver's side... :(

Jeez Kev, Cats now wheel bearings? How many miles are you up to?

Still somewhere around 68k miles ... I think all the downtime from having the cats replaced and the car not moving contributed to the wheel bearing going bad. It wasn't bad before I dropped the car off... it seems to be bad now :(

What are your symptoms? It's not that big of a job, if you're out of warranty...

When the car is cold, I get this rubbing/grinding noise from the driver's front side of the car. When the car gets warmer, the problem goes away and become almost non-existant. They were only able to detect a very very minimal feeling.

Of course, it could be a tire gone bad too since it was one of the first production Michelin PS2s that were prone to problems.

I'm not even totally sure it is the wheel bearing yet... I jacked the front of the car up and the front wheel doesn't spin freely. I didn't try the other side yet...

did the wheel have play?

the wheel didn't have any free play, but you could tell it didn't spin freely.

Just had it done a month ago. Driver side. Do you feel that your car has a tendency to pull towards driver side and it felt as if it is resisting?

Wheel bearings normally make a squeeling/whining noise when they are going bad, and should be pretty audible when traveling at low speeds. For a grinding noise I'd look into a brake caliper/rotor/pad issue first.

Anyways, removing the wheel bearing means taking apart the hub and its a big PITA, or at least is was on my e36.

I'm about to try...what's the status of yours? I just ordered a new wheel bearing for the driver's side...$155.00.
Torque value for the 46mm collar nut is 290Nm (~214 ft/lbs) ...I still need to buy a socket. I have an Electric impact gun that's capable of 240 ft/lbs....hopefully, I can get it done soon - I don't want to pay the dealer if I don't have to and the noise is starting to get annoying.
It's currently making quite a bit of noise at slow speeds...a low rumbling, rubbing type of sound. It seems to be slowly getting worse. I jacked up the car and the wheel does have a little play up and down...when I say little - I mean probbably 1mm or less but it shouldn't move at all.
